Not impressed by the MC (not just CS) deciding to manage Bowes when Bruhn went out but credit for not letting tonight fester. Tactical sub before HT with it being a structural positional player is ballsy. And the performance at subbing Stanley made it vindicated.

Do you have any inside knowledge as to why Bowes was subbed this week?
No, none of us do.
They have the bigger picture in mind, and some honourable losses in May may be tolerated by the MC after a 7-0 start if it means some in jury-prone players can be managed and then peak later on when it is more important.

Bull shit. If he's well enough to be an emergency he's well enough to play. Same with Parf and O'Connor last week. Dangerfield and Bruhn probably our best two mids already out (even with them we're not strong in there) we don't need to be stupidly managing people and making the problem worse.

Seriously dumb by match selection and fitness people (if they are influencing it). Picking the absolute best midfield group we could worked well enough until the last two rounds. Time stop pissing around and get back to it. Confidence of the group already been needlessly messed up.

All managed players are named as emergencies, and he is not a lot better than the players we had out there. How do you know anything about the confidence of the group? That second half did not smell like lack of confidence. As always, some serious underrating of our opposition. They have brilliant bull mids, and their classiest mid was out, plus they were playing for their season tonight.

Amazing how good players who get left out suddenly become. Bowes has had a decent year but would he really have stopped us being torched any more than the guys already out there? Sounds like trying to pin blame on the coach for the team not turning up until almost half time and being beaten by a few exceptional players.

In fact having the guts to sub Stanley and put Mullin into the centre bounces is one of the best tactical moves you will ever see. It completely changed the game.

A healthy/fit Bowes for Clark and we win (in full games this season he's a 20 disposal, 4 clearance and 5 tackle a game midfielder who uses the ball well), but I have no idea about the status of him so it's kinda pointless speculating.

EXACTLY we are not in a position where we can just manage players in the midfield when its already the worst in the comp.

Anyway, I've been absent from this board most of the year and it's very, very, very nice to come back and see that the NO PLAN B shit has gone to die the slow death it always deserved.
I thought that died long ago.

Interesting how much of the negative BS has disappeared over the past 24 months...
It’s cyclical. Those that thrive on negativity have no oxygen at the moment but their kind will return in the downturn.

Is that meritocracy though?

When the situation changes and we go 10, 15 years etc without a flag. When we start faltering badly in finals or missing them all together that is the time when a different tone and viewpoint arises.

Not sure what you mean. My understanding of that term is about people succeeding in proportion to their ability/effort etc.

Its not interesting really. Scott slowly started incorporating an attacking game plan 3-4 years ago with run and carry and fast moving handball alongside his precision slow chip kick game plan. A lot of the negativitiy occured because for 4 years when danger, hawkins, selwood were at their peaks he only employeed the latter and it prevented the club from winning a flag because it did not hold up in finals. Everyone could see the game plan was holding us back. And scott finally fixed it.
