20 seconds in and Goodes kicked a cracker...set the game on fire and signalled it was well and truly ON.

My question is....IFFF it was Chris Judd that kicked it ...wouldnt it be going down in folklore or something ?...commentators would have gone nuts...weagles fans would have said it was the greatest GF goal for donkeys yrs...all hail the juddernaut !!

Instead its hardly been mentioned.....such is the power of the Juddy.

If Sydney had won, absolutely it would have been _the_ memorable moment of the match. But, context is everything. No-one would have remembered Leo Barry's mark in last years' GF had there been another minute or two on the clock and the Eagles had gotten the win.

I think you're spot on...amazing how "moments" in a game are made and some will be forgotten tomorrow.

Its interesting to gauge peoples reactions to a goal like that tho.

Think about the circumstances ...you are two goals down at 3/4 time in a Grand Final....the ball is bounced and a dual brownlow medallist simply takes charge and instantly sets the direction of a game.

Its the ultimate dream for a kid and the ultimate thing to see from a known matchwinner....its what u WISH would happen if u are 2 goals down in a grannie....Judd does it regularly also.

Isnt this the essence of a true matchwinner ?...doing his job stepping up to take charge at a crucial moment ?

As far as memorable moments go the only problem was Sydney didnt win ....that goal would have been replayed to a sickening degree if Sydney got up....OR if it was Chris Judd that kicked it :D

Barry Hall laid it on for him too. So his game wasn't completely awful :)

I'm pretty sure it was his entire highlight package for the game tho.

Maybe Goodes made Hall look good in it too :D

lol....he had a shocka and is still not talking to the media....gotta laff.

Chicks smother, gather, handball to Hunter and shepard was the BIG moment.:thumbsu:

They're building that up arnt they...i guess it did win them the game.

I dunno tho... its not gonna be easy to replay a smother to the tune of "holy grail"

To be honest I thought it was looking grim for the Eagles... The extra week of finals and added travelling had taken its toll whilst the Swans had momentum and were starting to find space across the ground.

Luckily the defence was able to do just enough to hold on.

Anyways great goal from Goodes, he had a super second half after being quiet early on.

That was brilliant. I do think it's a shame that a number of commentators seem to point at that goal as an example of how good Hunter is. Any one could've kicked that goal. Not everyone could set it up.

he did exactly the same thing in the qual final as well in the last qtr.

agreed with another comment - if the swans had of won - it would have been replayed for days

however my mob got up and chick's smother, handpass and shepherd will be remembered

You are absolutely correct. If it was Judd who kicked it, commentators would have blown their loads. The phony mania surrounding Judd just defies credibility. You hear comments like, "Only Judd could have handballed that ball", and you think to yourself, "Rubbish, any one of at least 100 players could have done that". Everything he does is "brilliant", even when he makes one of his many errors during a day's footy.

I still remember Dermott Brereton's comment after he was caught holding the ball like a rabbit on spotlight. He claimed, "Look at the way Judd was able to stand up in the tackle, brillliant". Even when he makes an error the commentators still go nuts. Judd's a wonderful player but I just wish the footy world would calm down and retain some sanity when it comes to Judd.

Judd's a good enough player to just call it as it is, not magnify each and everything he does beyond credibility.

You lost the game. There's your reason.

Uh, what? Why would an ordinary goal in a losing side go down as folklore- as you are somehow suggesting it should?

Dont play up Goodes influence in this game just because you know he played a ****house match.

Not only what he done there but the effort on ted richards at the end to force the ball out on the full, if that kick had of not gone there it could been a shot on goal or a boundary throw in which anything could of happened.

David Calthorpe kicked a better one from the centre in the '93 GF (just when Carlton were getting back into it) but i doubt many would remember it.

If Sydney had won that would have been replayed heaps. I doubt if Judd had kicked it and WC lost it'd be getting a lot more coverage.

It's not like Goodes goes under the radar when the media (and umpires) are concerned.

I certainly do:) "They don't want this, this'l sting...whoooho Calthorpe replies for the Bombers!" That was the moment the game was sealed.

I supect even Jezza's mark may have been forgotten had his side not won & Harmes tap back to Sheldon means nothing if they lose.

The biggest moment had to Embley's mark. If the ball had have gone to ground any Swans player could have knocked it through for a point or it could have been spoiled into the goals.
