What are peoples thoughts on Mr Celebrity, I think he is a genuine chance anyone else think so?

Yes, if there is still something left in its tank. Does look like it will enjoy the 3200m and has beaten the handicapper. Not my top pick, but will feature very strongly in my exotics.

Im putting my cash on mr celeb...any horse who is carrying such a light weight with its form MUST have a genuine chance of a win

The winner is ........................EYE POPPER.

Facts are that it beat the diva in Japan and meets her better tomorrow with the track more firm than soft which goes Eye Popper's way.
Should have won the Caulfield Cup as was wide throughout and if it had luck in it the price would be even shorter for tomorrow so he's value for such a class performer.
Funny side to the story, last christmas eve on Today Tonight they had a clairvoyant do predictions for the year ahead and they said that the Melbourne Cup winner will have "sh" in either it's name, the trainers surname or jockey's surname. Only horse with that occurring is Eye Popper. Amazing! How do I remember? I wrote it down and put it in my diary!
I will likely put $20 ew on him.

I feel it is a year where there are very few chances so I will have place bets on the following -

Hugs Dancer - finally gets conditions to suit in a cup, a dry track! Strange prep for a cup but David Hayes is a genius, look at Barely A Moment on Saturday

Bazelle - Will stay all day and was a very tough win in the Auckland cup.

Rizon - when markets first came out he was right up there. Has had so many excuses in his leadups, soft tracks, unsuitable WFA races, slowly run races etc

But I would give up all of the above winning and the money I would make for the Diva to get home. C'mon champ!

1. Makybe Diva
2. Railings
3. Lachlan River
4. Demerger
5. Leica Falcon
6. Eye Popper
7. Distinction

In that order. What odds can I get on that? :)

if that is correct, ill bend over for u, for one whole night

What people have to remember is that the Melbourne Cup pays up to 10th place. Alot of horses in the race are not in to to try and win. It's just the glory of having a Melbourne Cup runner and when you get $100K for 10th, that's good enough for most connections.

I got on Dizelle as my roughie, when betting opened he was 2nd fav, his form is deceiving, he likes the distance and will be there abouts in the end I feel, he is paying like 41 bucks.

I still think a Eye Popper win, cant see many getting to him, Makybe Diva wont place if the track isnt dead.

Eye Popper
Makybe Diva
Railings
Demerger
Portland Singa

I see not many are getting on Vinnie Roe. What are his chances? I reckon he'll still be up there.

As I have said before on another thread, Vinnie Roe is an 8 year old and you have to go back to 1938 when Catalogue won the Cup and was the last 8 year old to do so.

I forgot to mention Lachlan River and Demerger will be a dead heat for 3rd!
Just practising safe sex there mate? :D

Diva for me. 3 out of 4 at the distance, runs well at the track and in form....and champions find a way to win.

What was the track rating Australia Cup day when it was about 28 degrees? Cos Diva brained Elvis, Lad of the Manor and co....me thinks excuses are being made in case the great mare fails...only thing that will beat her is the weight and a sht ride IMO

I had my eye on Dizelle right through its preperation..unfortunately I think the only way it will get near a place is if the heavens open up and it ********es down...which isnt likely

She nearly broke the record that day.

Having said that, she is clearly at her peak on wet tracks. Doesn't mean she isn't still a champion on the firm, but her favourite conditions are definitely when the track has some give.

You better watch out for Demerger as well then because Eye Popper isn't the only one with a Sh in the jockey or trainer's names. B Shinn might lose your $20.
