Just because 4 clubs can't or wont participate doesn't mean the concept is dead. There's not much Essendon can do, unless it looks at the roots of its formation. Collingwood could look at wearing the old Brittania jumper. Port's last year, Hawthorn's this year. Brilliant. St Kilda's thin stripes have now been adopted as an away strip or clash jumper. The concept has been an outstanding success.Marstermind said:Let's face it, the Heritage Round concept is dead. All it means is that clubs wear a different jumper - and this year Essendon, Richmond, Carlton and Collingwood either didn't or barely changed at all.

North could look back at its Hotham Hill roots. We'll agree to disagree, Mastermind.Marstermind said:Replace 'has been' with 'was' and you'd be right.

Adelaide - the SANFL state uniform from the early 80's;

Pazza one more, what about Duckworth
YEAP we had to win something.O Grobbecker said:If that is true then it's a shame. The heritage concept is informative. It encourages us to look at the history of our clubs. This year's winner was Hawthorn, hands down. The '80's !!
The rat, I wanna see someone do that with there hair. I see potential in Josh Thurgood.richmond_gunner said:You've all forgotten name - Paul van der Haar. And Greg Anderson complete with mullet. Johnny Platten. Dunstall with his helmet.
Aah... memories...
ZimZum said:No way. That has nothing to do with the ADELAIDE FOOTBALL CLUB. State jumpers are earned. Not just given to any two bit footballer. Adelaide do not represent this state. Plus it is disrespectful to the great players that wore the jumper in that era, who have had nothing to do with the Cows.
People in SA are still ********ed off with the fact that they wore a state jumper this year.

and to call any player playing at the elite AFL level a two bit player is pretty harsh.
above all, the jumper was approved, and we wore it, and we won. Why squabble over the past. Most would say it was a success.
ON ANOTHER NOTE--- i think the heritage round is a great idea. It doesnt really affect the games one way or another, nor the crowds, but its just a reminder of where the teams have come from, and helps us remember were we are going.
I find the contradiction interesting. Collingwood can't alter the jumper even a bit for a clash strip, even if it stays black and white or it won't be Collingwood anymore, but Port can't wear a significantly different black and white jumper or it hurts the Collingwood brand.O Grobbecker said:There'll be something in the conditions of the licence that deals with the issue of Port and black stripes. What Eddie McGuire thinks won't worry the Commission. For all his bleating, Sydney and Brisbane continue to get extra allowances and win premierships whilst Collingwood continues to decline.
