So silly.Oh you!!
So silly.
It's the correct decision. When he got the ball the nearest Gold Coast player was outside 9m. The Richmond player invited the pressure.
Those two are why it's deliberate.
There was no one within 9 metres. Its different if a guy is being swarmed on the goal line. He stood still, looked up and then walked back towards the goals. It's so clearly a free kick. But then every player should be pinged as often they have time to get a handball or kick off unless they are running towards goal.
What were the odds on this match before it started?
Suns were favourites at around $1.60, I think the Tiges were over $2What were the odds on this match before it started?
It's an inconsistent and subjective rule based on umpire interpretation. It's like the "insufficient attempt" rule as it's a subjective opinion of the umpires. The rules should be made more clear and objective.I thought that was objectively a free kick according to the law

yesDid they just say Rowell had 20 clearances?
Seeing the distress on the face of those Richmond fans behind the goals is why I follow the footy

Not following the game cause your side wins??
Then again…
You answered your own confusion in your post. It depends whether a player is facing immediate pressure. If there is no one around, it's a free kick, if they gather the ball and face immediate pressure it's not a free kick. Not denying that. Looking back it was a free. But the definition in the rule book stating that a player who is not under immediate pressure or who has time to dispose of the ball means 99% of those instances should result in a player being pinged as they generally have enough time to get a handball off.
Wait till Thursday night.Second most clearances in a game since the stat was recorded for Rowell.
