Re: Is Leon a chance for AA this Year?

Its all about quality of ball, at one stage last night he had 20 touches and 19 had hit its mark. In a game that was full of contested yuck footy he was a standout.

Re: Is Leon a chance for AA this Year?

2nd best midfielder in the league at the moment. Untaggable. 11 weeks of scintillating midfield goal kicking football, 10 weeks ankle injury.

Others may mock, but Leon in the weeks without the ankle injury this year has been supreme. Best kick in the league right now through the guts, and decision making has been superb. Go watch him before you throw out your uneducated comments next time

Re: Is Leon a chance for AA this Year?

I reckon Medhurst is much more deserving, and will struggle to make it.

Davis is probably a 50/50 prospect for the squad of 40, but that's about it.

uneducated comments

Haha. Brent Harvey has been BOG the past two weeks. Ablett is Ablett. Selwood has racked up one 30-touch game after another. Judd has found some form. Bartel. Black. Mitchell. Hodge. Cooney. Etc.

You could make a case for top 5 midfielders in the past THREE weeks...

Most on here seem to underrating how good he has been, but comments like this are taking it too far.

Re: Is Leon a chance for AA this Year?

No chance that Leon "I get cheap possessions the backline" Davis will make it.

Cheap possessions in the backline? He gets most of his possession in the forward line, and is always dangerous around goal.

Won't make the team though. Might have had a chance if he didn't get injured but missing games and playing injured have cost him. Our best chance would be Medhurst, Didak may have made it but won't now. I'd be surprised if we had anyone in the team.

Re: Is Leon a chance for AA this Year?

Been good lately..but AA ?
Depends what u classify him as i guess. Small fwd ?

..................Disp......Goals.........Tkle
L.Davis.........17.......30(1.6).......4.1
S Johnson.....19.......43(2.0).......3.3
J Akermanis...17.......43(2.0).......2.6
P Medhurst....16.......48(2.3).......3.1
S Milne.........14.......47(2.4).......2.6
D Motlop.......10.......54(2.7).......2.4

Anything around 2 per game is a damn good return...got to look at their assists as well i suppose.
Or do u see him more as a lead out flanker/mid in the OKeefe/Chapman type mould ?

Re: Is Leon a chance for AA this Year?

i hope he does make it .. one of my fav non richmond players ..

Re: Is Leon a chance for AA this Year?

I will give you a lapse in form prior to the St. Kilda game but it can be argued his last 3 weeks have been as good as any player in the AFL. He's had a better year than AA Contender Ryan O'Keefe.

What has that got to do with it? - in 2002 Mal Michael, the Premiership fullback, had a far better year at full back than Matthew Pavlich - Pavlich had not played in the position all season but was selected at full back

Consequently Michael was never an All Australian - a travesty

Exactly why the AA selection panel are a joke.

Re: Is Leon a chance for AA this Year?

He has played 11 games at AA level, 7 games of meaningful contribution, 3 poor. So that's a bench result if he gets into AA. Far better year then some of the "name" players like Judd who is over-rated as usual.

and kicking 30 goals from the midfield is pretty damn good. But what gets overlooked is how unbeliveable his kicking and decision making is. On form, the league's best kick.

Re: Is Leon a chance for AA this Year?

very poor player

getting older aswell what 27 , 28?

will he hang up the boots soon?

Could you embarrass yourself anymore?

First, Palmer is the most versatile youngster in the competition.

Now, Davis is a "very, very poor player". Do you even watch football? Or do you just browse the forums and try to form an opinion based on the tripe that's posted around here?

Re: Is Leon a chance for AA this Year?

322 disposals, 57 tackles and kicked 30.18, missed two games this season. He has had a good year, only 2 games where he didn't score a goal, been pretty consistent.

He just hasn't spent enough time forward or in the middle so I think he is stuck in limbo in AA terms.

That pretty much nails it.
