Re: NFL Week 5

lol

A week is definately a long time in football. :)
QB controversy to MVP...

The guy is still a big chance though if he doesn't have any games like last week... Unlikely though...

Out of Arizona, I would say Boldin SHOULD be leading a possible MVP count...

Re: NFL Week 5

What to say about the Chargers... my god

LT looks out of it, struggles to gain more than 4 or 5 yards, drops catches. I'm guessing he is still injured

Defence is in a shambles, really miss Merriman's play calling and leadership and ffs how hard is it for a CB to put a big hit on the QB when they are running the Wildcat? formation

Re: NFL Week 5

If you mean the play right on the near sideline in the final drive, he would have been a few yards short still.
The ball first touched his hands when it would have been a first down (Just give or take a few inches) but he was going the wrong way :p So yeah no first down, but a hell of a lot better for 4th down for 1/2 yards rather than the 14 they were left with.

Re: NFL Week 5

I didn't see this earlier but surely this has to rate as one of the most stupid plays ever by a QB when leading a game.

Suppose he knew his time was short so he'd try and make the sportscentre highlights. :D

Yeah, there wouldn't have been much in it at all.

Re: NFL Week 5

Some old-time records should stay just to keep those great old names on the record sheets.

We're talking about the oldest player record which isn't an indication of anything other than your age.

Morten is the all leading NFL scorer - I'm sure that means more to him than being the oldest. Plenty of players are signed for 5 minutes so they can retire with a particular team, I don't really see this as any different.

If the Saints are prepared to let him kick in a live game then I say why not?

Obviously it means enough to him that he'd make some gimmicky come-back just to break the record. Screw him. Let Blanda live on.

Re: NFL Week 5

Nah, we need to honour what little history we have.

LET HIM PLAY!!! :thumbsu:

Ok but dont say you werent warned. The football gods will not like this cheese and defrauding of a football great (blanda), and so the Saints will be punished via a missed PAT or something innocuous like that. And hopefully Vick will pop in to rub the salt into your wound.

Re: NFL Week 5

im a texans fan and was watching the packers game and i couldnt believe how we crumbled to lose to the colts, that game was a season defining game as we have 3 easy/winnable games coming up at home and couldve been 4-3.
Couple positives to take outta the game are:
: the continued performance of Steve Slaton
: this will surely put a stop to talk of schaub being benched he is our started without a shadow of a doubt.

OL will collapse & he'll get his leg broken in 8 places.

Re: NFL Week 5

Great win by my Falcons today, just thought I'd pop on in and gloat about it :p

I am now officially 110% on the Matt Ryan bandwagon and can't believe I wanted us to draft Dorsey instead. Maybe I have the rose coloured glasses on a bit but in watching him play one cannot help but be impressed. He will still make the obligatory rookie mistakes but I really believe he has the talent to eventually take us to the promised land.

Last year's absolute train wreck of a season seems so long ago already. I'm not gonna get carried away here because I still expect us to only win about 6 games but for the first time in a long time I can say that the Falcons actually seem to have a bright future.

Orton and the Bears to be the next victims....

Re: NFL Week 5

And a couple of kneel downs raps this one up, 2 games clear of SD thanks to the Dolfs. Just following on gamecentre, good to see Denver can win a game like this instead of shootouts. A few notches in the sack column also a positive seeing as though we've had almost zero pressure on the QB so far this year...

Yep, just got home (less said about the events that took place on the w/e in Sydney the better ) had no idea how we'd gone. Extremely relieved to see we won, was not confident at all.

Then I saw Miami had won.. :D

Finally something to be happy about!

Ryan was impressive today... pity it had to be against my boys.

Just wondering what people think of the Packers playoff chances this year. A positive start, yet we look to be going backwards. Im not confident that we can cover Rodgers if he goes out with his shoulder, and the defense seems to be struggling early. Thoughts?

Re: NFL Week 5

Almost another exciting week done.

G-Men: Every score was like a tooth extraction with pliers  Psst, American football I don't know well, but human nature I do know well. Such misplaced "trepidation," from the Zarko-man. Not surprising the "Prediction Thread" has already re-appeared on this board with the "me, I, and mine" stuff out front.

Pats: Brady to Moss - TOUCHDOWN! Oh, I mean Cassel to Moss - TOUCHDOWN! Like true champs they fight on.

Pack: 13-3 last year has quickly become 2-3 this year with two home losses already. Lucky they can rely on No. 4 not getting injured and missing action. Damn, I forgot…

J-E-T-S: Of course they didn't play but many are no doubt hoping Favre as a Jet fails in the end.

Falcons: Hopefully the return of Dirty Birds football is upon us.

T-Men: Who are these guys? 5-0!

Lions:

Re: NFL Week 5

TGBB and myself highlighted GG calling out Buffalo and Zorn and Cam called out Mizza... Perhaps you should read the new posts in the prediction thread first?

Tites will go a fair ways by the looks of the AFC atm...

Who do you think will ride out in the Black and Blue monty? Green Bay, Chiggy and Minn... Hardly instils confidence atm...

Ryan has been super impressive and I must admit I've been suprised. Not so much with him but with the support cast. The O line has been doing a fantastic job of protecting him and he's smart enough to use it. Christ even your receivers are blocking!!

What next, WR's will actually WANT to play in Atlanta? :)

IMO he's been ROTY so far - and I know there's been other impressive candidates running the ball. However I reckon he's stepped into one of the worst situations in football (potentially) and he's help turn the whole franchise around. I bet Authur Blank is praying he doesn't own any dogs. ;)

There's still a couple of holes on D that need to be plugged but Abraham is back to his awesome best. He was fantastic too yesterday. Caused the Green Bay O line a heap of problems.

Just wondering what people think of the Packers playoff chances this year. A positive start, yet we look to be going backwards. Im not confident that we can cover Rodgers if he goes out with his shoulder, and the defense seems to be struggling early. Thoughts?

Unless you can get all your starters on deck that D is going to struggle. They were terrible yesterday. Did someone tell them Roddy White had an infectious desease or something? He was regularly 15-20yds clear of anyone covering him.

As for the O, I wouldn't worry too much about Rodgers (short-term) & whether he stays in there. TBH, I thought he was terrible at times yesterday, bordering on pathetic when he grabbed his arm walking off after throwing a crap pass. Funny how the pain kicked in only when he made eye contact with his bench.

What I'd be worried about if I was a Packer fan would be the O line and Ryan Grant and the offensive play calling. All were poor yesterday.

I think everyone was surprised.

But you were facing the Colts and probably the most explosive offense in the game. No excuse I know, but give them an opportunity like Sage gave them after turning the ball over and you know they'll find a way to win. They haven't been leading the division for years without good reason.

Very disappointing loss but at the same time encouraging. I rate the Texans, especially the D, and it wasn't them that lost you the game. Their performance against Indy for most of the game has to be a great sign.

Re: NFL Week 5

The stunning news from the Vikings this week is that MLB E.J. Henderson is gone for the season with, wait for it, dislocated toes.

I've got no idea how he sustained the injury during the Titans game last week, but its obviously a very serious injury and involves multiple toes on his left foot. Henderson was the defensive leader on the team and wore the defensive headset on the field. His loss is massive for the Vikings.
