2009 Membership Tally

The following clubs have published additional non ticketed memberships.
Carlton 15,032
Richmond 8,991
Bulldogs 2,892

As stated in other posts Melbourne and St Kilda may have non ticketed within their published figure. Melbourne are experiencing a year similar to us last year and will have a level of sympathy members which should reduce in 2010 similar to us.

All Melbourne clubs have MCC members as I understand it similar to the AFL membeship situation. Hawthorn do have around 6,000 Tassie members but would still be very strong without these.

We are competing against, and will be judged against, Melbourne, Bulldogs & St Kilda in the Melbourne market. Additionally we can compare ourselves against Brisbane, Sydney & Port Adelaide and soon Gold Coast & West Sydney in terms of our following.

Richmond have had 4k-8k higher membership than us for the last decade or more.

My posting of these figures is to show where we are and the fact that we need to keep up the effort over the next 5+ year to ensure the Melbourne based future of our Club.

If we are to be judged against the likes of Melb, Dogs and Saints then we are looking very good, especially considering the absolute "stinker" of an on field year we are having.
The Saints and the Dogs are having ripper years on field yet the Dogs are marginally behind us in membership, whilst the Saints are marginally in front.
The Dogs have never been able to break 30000, even including non ticketed so all in all I think our membership growth is tracking very well.

The Dogs, unfortunately, appear to have exhausted their membership recruitment channels as their figures have been stagnant now for a couple of years.
Whereas on the other hand North's figures have rocketed ahead since JB and Euge took over the helm.
As soon as the re-development is completed and a decision is made re coaching staff for 2010 North could once again attract and recruit many new members. I believe we could also attract back past members who are still disenfranchised, for some reason whatsoever, with the club.

All in all I think we have very good times ahead- read my signature:thumbsu:

It will be great to see the figure pass the 30,000 mark but I'm guessing the official figure printed in the papers will be around 28,000 once the non-ticketed memberships are taken out. A figure of 28,000 won't look as good unfortunately.

Who knows, we may be pleasantly surprised to hear that this figure does not contain non ticketed members as was mentioned by a poster some time ago.

Spoke to Sandra who confirmed that the number "does include Roo Crew" memberships. So the official number will drop by quite a way.

What I don't understand is why people who get the Roo Crew memberships don't just get a junior Roo north Membership. I mean- you're not going to attend games that's a given- but the Junior Roo North Membership entitles you to exactly the same thing- Membership cap, Troo North Mag, Membership Card etc- is around the same price- and counts as a ticketed membership on the count.
What's more- you can find a little tacker who can't afford to go to games, give the membership to him- and develop a Roos supporter out of it.

Just resurrecting this thread back to page 1.

30231 members is a terrific result in all of the circumstances.

Amidst all of the other doom and gloom we need to celebrate crossing the 30000 mark. :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:
I'm really pleased we reached the 30,000 mark for combined memberships this season. Considering we have had such a bad year on the field thus far it is a great achievement.

Now lets sack Laidleys and get Buckley to the club and watch our membership climb to 35,000 next year.:thumbsu:

Will we see a spike now, with anyone who "vowed to themselves not to renew while Laidley was still coach" now signing up?
