Thoughts on Buckley? Anyone taking the risk with him down back? He pushed into midfield 2nd half of last year and averaged 86 from Rnd 14 onwards, racking up lots of touches and likes to kick. He was in lots of teams back in summer, then everyone jumped off. Thoughts?

and any thoughts on Buckley as asked above

Anyone?

and a player that kicked about 100 goals last season for an average of only 82.8

Yes, that's right. But don't forget that Fev is a very accurate forward. If he had the same scoring shots as Franklin did last year, he probably would've kicked 120 goals I reckon. But he didn't, and part of the reason he didn't goes back to your other point, that a forward's output often hinges on midfield supply. Considering the Blues lost more games than they won last year, and considering where so called 'experts' (including opposition coaches) expect us to finish this season, is it unreasonable to expect more scoring opportunities and possessions for Fev this year?

Basically my whole reason for picking Franklin this time last year was because I expected the Hawks to improve on their previous season. - Worked out well for me so I'm aiming for 2 from 2 this season.

Because we didn't apply that at all in the preseason, and Fev looked too good to refuse anyway. :thumbsu:

The Carlton boys will honor other leads, but if Fev breaks away from his man, which he often does, why not kick to him?

Kicking to Fev too often is what costs us so many games. It is extremely predictable...surely you want to make the most of your forward entries. If Fev is leading yet has a loose man in front of him you shouldn't kick it to him. Which is exactly what Ratten has been instructing the players to do this pre season. They might still kick it to Fev when it's two on one but not as often.

So Fev hopefully kicks less goals this year and the goals are spread a bit more.

Looking for a back, only have 226k left over. Got Hill, Raines, Suban and Petrenko...the last two of them on the bench. Grimes' back injury and the uncertainty over Geary's spot in the Saints team isn't helping. Anyone got any suggestions?

Courtney Dempsey... or find an extra 18k to get houlihan :thumbsu:

Looking at players priced around the same as Fev - Just saw Brennan.

Is he too much of an enigma to pencil in as a keeper? He's burnt me so often in the past. I swore I would never buy him again

[Edit] Scratch that. Injured.

Noone?

Wasn't very unique before the game opened and there were a lot more defensive options.

Rated highly by Melbourne though...tends to butcher the ball a bit but in terms of DT he's right up there when it comes to cheap marks at half back and running through the middle. Started in the middle on numerous occassions in the final practice match at that shithole, Casey fields.

why is wade thompson priced at 88,000 when he was selected in the rookie draft, normally rookies are priced around 75,000 and 2nd/3rd round in the national draft are normally priced around 85,000. Can somebody please tell me why wade thompson is priced better?

For some stupid reason they've jacked up the price on the PS draft picks and the first round of the rookie draft. Which is incredibly stupid because it means guys like Thompson, who was the 89th bloke picked in total IIRC, cost more than the 17th guy picked.

How about BJ, no many seem to be talking about him much. Yes he's a year closer to retirement, but was injury riddled last year, which lowered his scores.
The six seasons before that he's averaged between 94 and 100 a season.
I reckon he'll come back to somewhere in that vicinity this year.

IMO BJ still has it.
Hell at least average 85.
Could be unique as well.

Funkalicious, wouldve loved Brennan to be right to go for round 1 but he wont be otherwise he wouldve been one of the first penciled in. Ive been big admireres of Brennan and Sylvia. I had them in my side for a long time. They wer going to be very cheap keepers and possible premiums. Very cheap 6th and 7th forwards.

I have gone off Sylvia a bit but its his year to shine. He has the most talent at the club melbourne and needs to show it as a number 2 or 3 draft pick. I can see him as a dominating onballer who reminds me alot of Buckley, Hird types. Big body who can push forward as a half forward flanker and have big impacts on games. The reason i am not picking him is because he 1)plays for melbourne and they will get less ball to him as a HFF. 2) Even if he starts to dominate teams will quickly shut a player like him down and i dont think he could handle a tag yet.

90-95 this year IMO.
