2009 Trade Discussion - Part 4

Ok guys, im in a bit of a trading dilemma, i have a couple options and they are pretty similar but it could make a big difference:

Hasleby> Hartlett
Skipworth>SJ
and start Hartlett, with Rich (2 rookie mids)

Hasleby>De Boer
Skipworth>Riewoldt
and start 2 of Beams/Rich/De Boer

I have literally 0k in the bank so dont think i can get Hartlett and Riewoldt... and i need to do one of either because i will be one short if i dont...

what people do with skipworth is going to be pretty important trade this year it seems.
i think it if you are facing a 0 it is definitely best to trade him but its very hard if you have backup in people like walker because skippy is back in 2-4 weeks and walker isnt going to go up much more.
havent read that much on here, what seems to be the general opinion on this?

I'm really unsure who to name this week.

I have two midfield spots up for grabs between Rich, Beams and Hartlett. Any ideas who I should name?

Just did
Walker -> Warren
Skipworth -> Higgins

As I think Walker has peaked and Warren will get games at least until Hansen comes back into the squad.
Traded out skipworth as I feel he is going to have to fight his way back into the squad. I know the Higgins boat left at the start of the season but I feel he's a keeper and can reach 400k+ an get me 95+ from here on in.
Didnt trade out rich/hasleby/beams as dont feel they have peaked.
Opinions? (League win)

Which one do I do -

1/ Out Dalziell & Robinson In:Swan(avg.115) & Hartlett (leaves me with $25,700 in the bank)

2/ Out Dalziell & Robinson In:Sewell(avg.105) & Hartlett (leaves me with $86,100 in the bank)

Like many others here I'm going Hase--> Hartlett which allowed Skippy --> Franklin with dollars left over and givea me some cover in the forwards.

My midfield in stacked with good cash cows - Rich, Ottens, Beams, Zaha, Hartlett - as my back and forward cows are fairly crap (Cheney, Suban, Brown, Hentschell). Should be plenty of options for cashing in the mid cows and getting fallen guns in the next few weeks. Hoping one of the cows is good enough to be my 7th back for at least most of the year.

Only 15 trades left but 2 upgrades done now. Trying to do well overall and eliminator rather than the league so getting set with a good team early which has some solid backups and then pray injuries don't kill me in the second half of the year. Somone wrote a great post last year showing how many extra points you get by getting the guns in early.:thumbsu: Very difficult to catch up if you wait till after mid year for most of your upgrades even if you have a fantastic team by rounds 17-18.

Seems to me a lot of people wasting trades on dowgrades on cash cows that have made little money. e.g. Robinson, Hentschell, Walker, Petrenko, Brown, Suban etc. So far this year mid cash cows have been the ones that make money and forwards and back more just there to cover for injuires. Obviously a few exceptions... Ziebell etc.

walkers made ~89k brown 84k. What do you consider is a minimum good milking? Mines about that :)

hi , i know north has a few injuries but i havent seen either of greenwood or warren play yet...

anyone know how likely greenwood and warren are to keeping their spots?? also of the two which is more likely to keep their spot ?

????

trying to decide whether downgrade petrenko to greenwood or walker to warren ??

thanks

They'll both make more money than that, but maxing out that value isn't really worth it if you can't find a good downgrade option later on. Current break even scores and job security need to be factored in as well. Those are decent returns IMO. Not great, but not bad.

I think option 1 as De Boer hasn't even played a game yet and you could trade Rich or Beams to him in a couple of weeks if he goes well and gets picked for third game. There are other options rather than SJ if you want to save a few dollars: Franklin, Goodwin etc.

hey guys, with my side, i have skipworth on the bench that im looking at getting cash out of and wondering if to get rid of him or not,

with the cash shuld i then do anything to my side?

my backline is fine
mid- ablett. cornes, gibbs, selwood, rich and haselby
rucks are fine
fwd - higgins, deledio, pavlich, gia, krakouer, zeibell, walker

Depends how you look at it. At the start of the year 440K was the price for a 100 ppg player, so 10ppg = 44K. According to your numbers Swan's average is 10ppg more than Sewell, but Swan's asking price is 61K higher than Sewell's, which is more than the 44K for 10ppg average.
So on that analysis I'd probably go with option 2, which also gives you the benefit of having more cash in the bank for future trades.

cashed in robinson for de boer to fund a haselby upgrade ..
undecided on pendlebury + $9,300
or mitchell + $30,400

one side says pendlebury due to his ave (101.8 compared to mitchell's 89.8)
then the other side can see the growth in terms of price and ave that mitchell has in him

:S

Both will have some big highs and some big lows but i would go Pendles, more durable and has looked to step it up another step from last season.

De Boer hasn't played yet. Silly taking so much risk at this stage in the game.

I had Robinson, Walker, Hentschell & Petrenko from the start of the year. When Hentschel got injured I traded him out for Ziebell which has made me around 100k so far and will make me a little bit more. Robinson I traded out last week for Hartlett, for the simple reason that I don't believe that Robinson will be back anytime soon and Hartlett offers security and could well spend the rest of the year as bench cover with either Otten/Beams.

As I mentioned earlier I have taken a gamble with trading our Walker & Petrenko this week. I did so because I don't believe they have much more value left in them. Whether this is the right choice or not only time will tell. However, by making those 2 trades it has now given me the cash to upgrade 1-2 midrangers next week to fallen premiums which as you said the quicker you get them in the better it may well be.

Been tossing up all day whether to turn Boomer into:

a) Franklin
b) SJ
c) L. Davis

Am no closer to a decision. Any thoughts???
johnson for me. should average 100 for the year playing in a gun side and getting the opportunities across the flank that he does. gets his 20 touches and 2-3 goals most weeks looks a good get

buddy hasnt been tearing it up like last year yet but i think its only a matter of time. should average 95 for the year and may be the one you want

davis has surprised me a lot this season and looks to have added some consistency to his game. also getting heaps of midfield time and should average 90-95.

Franklins a bargain for his price. Scoring well despite some pretty average games.
Hawks should start tearing it up soon aswell.

SJ, probably continue what hes doing at the moment. Expect some small price drops but some reasonable consistency.

Neon Leon is too inconsistent for me. I havent looked into his stats to back it up but I see him scoring well some weeks and rather poorly other weeks which could hurt or help you through certain rounds.

Personally I would have no thoughts about locking in the big Budwood at his price.

hey does anyone think its worth trading our either garlett or hentshel, who are on my bench, for ben warren so that i have a playing emergency for ng. brown?

I'm keeping Hasleby and intend to for a while longer. Still has a bit to rise and once he does, it'll be only 80-100k to upgrade him to a genuine midfield premium.

At the moment, it'll be Taylor Walker to Ben Warren and Harvey to Pavlich. Will then upgrade Skipworth next week or the week after to a fallen premium (Richo the best option but not sure if I want to take that risk).

Double trade for me.

Harvey > Franklin
Skipworth> Warren.

I hope Warren holds his spot and Buddy starts dominating again...

My forward line was

Lids, Higgins, Didak, Zeibell, houlihan, harvey, skipworth (walker/sidebottom)

now it is..

Lids, Higgins, Zeibell, Houlihan, franklin , walker, warren, (didak, sidebottom)

What does everyone think... I have 278k in the bank.

Next week
Walker and petrenko out. Forward premium in.
