hey guys any input would be really appreciated, here is my problem.
i have walker ziebell and warren in my forwards, 2 of whom were playing, so i need to fix that up, i will be trading warren and ziebell for a start, but for who?

1/ stevie j, will have 35 k left over
2/ chappy, i have the amount exact to the dollar.

my problem is when i get rid of raines for a rookie, and then get rid of rich for a premium, if i get stevie j i have 445k to play with, whereas if i get chappy i have 405k to play with.

thoughts?

Have spent the entire day trying to figure out what to do with my FWD line. Playing in a very important game this w/end, but all my remaining matches are important. So don't wanna be thinking TOO short-term.

If I do a backline downgrade, will have $136k in bank, 5 trades...

F: Stevie J, Deledio, Didak, Franklin, Pavlich, Goodwin, N Brown (Walker & Ballantyne)

Should I trade one of those premiums, and if so, which one??

who should i get rid of goodwin or pav
if i get rid of goodwin i can get stevie j and joel corey
if i get rid of pav i could get chapman and joel corey so it is

Goodwin, Chapman and JC
or
Pav(Ballantyne for 1 or 2 weeks) stevie j and JC

thoughts?

Ended up going with a double trade of Coughlan to Anthony and Sidebottom to Didak.

Completes my forward line of Riewoldt, SJ, Didak, Pavlich, Deledio, Franklin and Higgins. Mitch Brown and Taylor Walker currently on my bench so I'll downgrade Walker next week to generate some more cash.

Only Anthony, Otten and Houlihan left to upgrade, with Grimes most probably kept as my 7th defender. With 8 trades remaining I'm sitting fairly comfortably.

Um... You do realize Murphy is going to play forward. Even if he was named in the backline, Gia isn't playing meaning the Dogs are gonna need a lot of extra class and goal kicking accuracy.

I picked Murphy up, I know he's a bit injury prone but I think he'll be worth it!

Hmmm tough situation, I would probably go with S.J just because of the extra cash left over and also Chapman is a bit injury prone.

brought didak in this week - very happy with the result

will bring in montagna and sj over the next few weeks as i gear up for finals.

The form of Broughton in the backline makes him just about as good as a premium down there - so my plans of upgrading him may be out the window

I would take that any day of the week, Pav>Goodwin, Chapman=Stevie(both can pull huge scores) and then joel corey thrown in. Even though you gotta play balla, i reckon its worth it.

Think I will get Brennan this week, was going to toss a coin between him and Jon Brown but i think I will stick with him, there is a lot to like.

-Playing a lot more in the midfield and often can be a loose man behind play.
-Lions look to finish top 4, should charge on the run home.
-Improved his consistency and nothing indicates to me that he would drop his current average.

That's my team. Giansiracusa needs to go... but i only have 3 trades and $20k...

My original plan was to do:

Muston-> Liam Anthony
Skipworth -> Riewoldt

Then keep one trade for a major injury...

Now i'm thinking:

Muston->Liam Anthony
Gian -> Riewoldt
Then keep 1 trade and upgrade either franklin or skipworth just before the finals barring no more injuries (highly doubtful)

My other awful ideas were:

Drop Chad Cornes (as happy with broughton + grimes) for a rookie
Use cash to upgrade both giansiracusa and skippy.
0 trades left.

OR

Do nothing.
Sideways trade gian -> brent harvey
2 trades left.
Miss out of liam anthony (though now that adam cockie is back playing again this might not be sooo bad).

Any advice?

Also i'm now playing to win all 3 of my leagues, as last week i lost eliminator by 10 points... sooo i can sit with injuries till finals like pavlich, chornes and cox...

I believe my team is pretty much finished, or more or less on the verge of with just Skipworth my only real player needing an upgrade. I'm starting to wonder if I have been too conservative with my trades as I can now afford to have one of Houlihan/Grimes sitting on the bench once Drummond gets back.

I'm starting to regret not trading Pavlich as I probably had more than enough trades to warrant it, but I felt that other sideways players around his price didn't have as good scoring potential, plus the other players I was interested in Roo/SJ/Chapman/L.Davis were all an extra 50-80K more expensive than him. I also thought he would be a handy player to have come finals, Ballantyne would get more supply now Pav is gone and finally Pav would be an important player to have for the finals.

I'm either going to upgrade Skipworth straight to one of Roo/SJ/L/Davis, leaving me with around 5 trades for LTIs, if Muston gets named this week. Just wanted to get some feedback on whether or not I have too many trades remaining. Also is it worth upgrading some struggling players such S.Fisher/Franklin to premiums such as Lockyer/SJ/Roo/Chapman/Davis if I have an abundance of trades in order to further enhance my team.

Its my first year and whilst I understand the basic concepts such as drafting and the main principles in trading I'm a bit unsure specifically of the aspect of what exactly is a happy medium for trades remaining. Like how many trades I should have for injuries at certain rounds, such as how many trades I'll need for the last 3 rounds and during the run-home.

@ yogibbear

First of I just wanted to say I like your best 22 team on paper a lot it is more or less completed and is overall very strong, especially in the defense. The major problem I feel your going to have is STIs and LTIs due to not having enough trades just by looking at C.Cornes, D.Cox, Gia, Pav and just recently Foley.

These are going to have a big effect on you especially considering your rookies don't have huge job security players like: Cheney, Muston, Cockie and Daniher spring to mind so you may want to look at doing a few sideways to avoid doughnuts or points lost by starting rookies.

The sooner you get rid of Gia the better as he is going to be out for 6 weeks, which is just way too long to have a player priced at around 377K sitting on the bench and most likely a rookie filling in. Personally I'd look to offload Gia to R.Murphy, considering he is starting to his straps and should be filling in for Gias HFF role as he regains complete match fitness, not to mention the trade will net you around 77K which is very handy.

I wouldn't be making anymore downgrades, seeing as though you don't have very many trades left, Cockie and Muston should be adequate cover for your mids so Anthony isn't really necessary as it will be to late in the season to downgrade to him and he will most likely just be sitting on your bench not earning points for you anyway. I would hold onto players such as C.Cornes and Pavlich, due to the amount of trades you have remaining and also considering you have already waited some weeks on them already and they should both score 90+ for you when they get back on the park. Now seeing as though Foley appears to be holding your team, now that he is injured and consequently has a score of 23 rolling through you are better of upgrading him now before he loses even more value. I'd look to trading Foley to an affordable fallen premium of your liking such as Salopek/Cross and to a lesser extent Gibbs. I personally don't think you have enough cash to go up to an absolute premium who is a bit more expensive such as: Corey, M.Murphy, Montagna, Mitchell, Hayes etc.

If Foley is injured I'd probably hang onto Skipworth as your 7th forward for at least another 2-3 weeks or at least until you have more information in regards to how your injury situation is traveling, also some other absolute premiums should be much cheaper by then as well with high/expected BEs currently. However if Foley isn't injured and gets up next round I'd probably hold onto him, save the last trade for LTI and instead trade Skipworth upto any premium forward either this week or in the next couple to any premium forward you can afford, ie. Chapman/Roo/B.Harvey/L.Davis or whoever else.

Okay Foley... just ruined my plans. :( Oh well. Probably just demonstrated how crap my original team must have been to require soooo many trades to get to where it's gotten...

Your team is insane. If you have that team with 5 trades left, you should be telling us what to do.... :cool:

If i was you (note my team is a top 2000, not top 300 like yours) i would upgrade skippy to riewoldt by dropping muston to liam anthony. Then keep 3 trades for future injuries. Note: i'm not you, and you're doing much better than me soooo don't take my advice because it's crap.

Okay...

Looking back at my trading... i went too hard too fast on a lot of players...

Also... i picked up players that suddenly decided to get injured like joel corey and giansiracusa OR who showed signs of being crap and continued to play like crap e.g. franklin.

I also had hodge, sam fisher and pavlich from the start so.... no cheap fallen premiums there. :(

I've circled alll my questionable, bad, in hindsight trades. Though i stand by my decision to drop gablett for swan... probably not that smart at the time, but looking back i did get some massive scores from swan as captain instead. (Much more massive than used by people's analysis to justify keeping ablett)

Started bad with liam anthony (though didn't everyone?) then traded to Travis Tuck (Worst pick ever) then to Hartlett (also very lame) and then got rid of Rich and Otten WAY TOO EARLY!!!!! and got Joel Corey instead who decided to get injured... while rich and otten were both scoring 80-90+ oh the irony... then i got suckered into Franklin for Ziebell...

Hm... anyway... i think i'm a classic case of bad trading ruining a semi-decent team. So trading is VERY important to doing well.

Current Team:
B: Goddard, Adcock, Hodge, Enright, Fisher, Grimes, Broughton (Cornes, Petrenko)
M: Bartel, Corey, Swan, Gibbs, Murphy, Hasleby (Hartlett, Muston)
R: Cox, Sandilands (Jacobs, Currie)
F: S.Johnson, Pavlich, Higgins, Didak, Roughead, Deledio, Ballantyne (Sidebottom, Hentschel)

6 Trades, 8k in the bank.

I'm quite content with my backline as it has been scoring quite well without Cornes in the side, so i'm thinking Cornes > Silvester and then Sidebottom > Riewoldt...what do people think?

Thats it im sick of it.

Sidebottom-->Hogan
Rich-->Ablett

Will leave me 4 trades and 72k in the bank
I think its best to get the top midfielder out there and i wanna do it this week. I reckon this is solid. What do people think?
