Sold Out = 75% capacity?
You're confused. Sold out means all tickets sold. 40,000 of the tickets are sold to members before the season. Only 3,000 or so extra can be sold per game. No more people can attend even if they wanted to.
Your argument is flawed when 4 of our 7 Melbourne based home games are against low drawing opponents (Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Port Adelaide)
Only to the extent of fewer opposition supporters attending. How many in the MCC reserve for instance? Always going to be at least a few thousand. How many in the AFL members reserve without Hawthorn club support? Another couple of thousand. Add anywhere between 1,000 and 10,000 opposition supporters and another 5,000 Hawthorn (and neutral) single ticket purchases.
A 35,000 crowd to Hawthorn v Port would still be lucky to have over 25,000 members.
Meanwhile, a 35,000 crowd at Subi *must* have at least 32,000 members, because no more than 3,000 others can get in.
