Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

Since you posted about an academic standard, I can only assume that the academic standing of a school is relevant.
You assume wrong.
This is a football thread.

And I was talking about the academic standard of the football program.

So please don't try and derail the thread like Irvin has tried numerous times.

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

I actually expect Stanford to maintain about the same level

Ranging anywhere between 11-1 and 8-4

Loss to Oregon
Maybe losses to Notre Dame and USC
and just the token upset.

USC is going to be the biggest quiery next year. IMO they'll have the best top end talent, but I think Reggie Bush is gonna continue to **** over USC, USC's loss of scholarships start next season don't they?

Also, to try and get it away from the trolling, Mike Leach has been picked up by Wazzu................sorry 'bout the slang, Washington State. Short term, meh, but give it 3-4 years (lucky about the 5 year contract hey!) and them and Oregon could be ripping apart any Pac-12 team not called USC. Pac-12 better learn how to play some defense.

Maybe they can rename the conference the Big 12 West?

Will be interesting to see how Leach does out west

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

Bruins and Ducks are 7-7 midway through the first quarter. Two Oregon turnovers so far- last one an INT returned for a TD. UCLA to smell roses?

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

Anyway, how come every conference doesn't have a championship game? And what is the point of the games on this week that aren't championship games?

No, only conferences with 12 or more colleges can have a conference championship game (which is why the 10 team Big 12 doesnt have one).

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

Just checked the foxtel guide and didn't see the Big10 championship on anywhere...is this true?

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

C-USA must be pissed, they miss out on $17mil because Houston couldn't close out their perfect season and make a BCS Bowl Game.

Would that put Boise in the box seat as a non-aq for a BCS Bowl Game?

No TCU will be the most-likely non-aq to school to qualify, particularly if both Baylor and Wisconsin lose.

Boise isn't eligible for that.
You have to win your conference.

TCU, Southern Miss, Arkansas State, Northern Illinois, Louisiana Tech. They're the schools that have to be top 12 for non aq auto, or top 16 and above aq champ (West Virginia will rise to about 20 probably)

TCU will only be able to grab it if LSU come back and beat Georgia (do you see that happening? They havn't even gotten 1 first down in the first half) they need Texas to come back vs Baylor (not happening, Baylor is blowing them away now) They'd need the BigTen game to be a thumping, a 1 score game like last time wont hurt them enough to go under TCU in the polls. And they'd need Virginia Tech to protect their butts and take down Clemson.

With results going the way they are right now, TCU will be pushing it to make it to the BCS. Boise State probably are the biggest gainers right now, with 1 more at-large spot opening up.

But the winners will be the MOuntain West - It will be TCU or Boise State in at Houston's expense.

no, Georgia if they keep it up, Kansas State, TCU even
Re-read what you're replying too. This result is irrelevant to Georgia and Kansas State.

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

BCS Bowl birth, same shit

even if TCU don't get into the top 16, Boise isn't getting in infront of Kansas State, or Georgia (if they win)
SORRY TWARBY MISSED THE PROVISO IF THEY WIN, NOT SURE IF YOU"D TAKE BOISE OR KANSAS ST THOUGH, KANSAS ST ISN'T A BIG FOOTBALL SCHOOL, DON"T THINK EITHER WILL GET IN THOUGH
Only two schools can come from one conference (unless two teams are in the championship game and neither are the conference champ), SEC Bama and LSU rules out Georgia, and Oklahoma if they win, will win the conference, and Oklahoma St will get an at Large birth over Kansas St.
If Michigan make the top 14 they'll most likely get an at large birth.

So for me I'm Saying
Nat Champ - Bama v LSU
Rose Bowl - Oregon v Winner of Michigan St-Wisconsin
Fiesta - Winner of Oklahoma v Oklahoma St v At Large
Sugar - At Large V At Large
Orange Bowl - Clemson (I think they'll win) or Virginia Tech v West Virginia (orange picks last)

At Large (in order of preference)
Stanford
Michigan
Virginia Tech if they Lose
tied with Oklahoma St if they lose
Oklahoma if they lose and stay in top 14

Predicting Oklahoma and Clemson to win

*TCU take one of those at large spots if they finish top 16, but that is seeming less likely, would need the Big Ten champs game to be decisive, plus hope Clemson loses because if Clemson beat Virginia tech they will most likely jump TCU

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

Clemson blow out VT
Okla State blow out Okla

I'm leaning towards wanting LSU vs Okla St national championship because Okla St's only loss was 24hrs after their school had that plane crash tragedy.

Mich St and Wisc going down to the wire

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

IMO, who finishes 14th decides the bowls.

If Oklahoma finishes 14th

BCSNCG - LSU vs Alabama
Rose - Oregon vs Wisconsin
Sugar - Oklahoma vs Boise State
Orange - Clemson vs West Virginia
Fiesta - Oklahoma State vs Stanford

If Michigan State finishes 14th

BCSNCG - LSU vs Alabama
Rose - Oregon vs Wisconsin
Sugar - Stanford vs Boise State
Orange - Clemson vs West Virginia/Michigan State
Fiesta - Oklahoma State vs West Virginia (If Michigan State taken by Orange) or Virginia Tech (If West Virginia taken by Orange)

If Michigan finishes 14th

BCSNCG - LSU vs Alabama
Rose - Oregon vs Wisconsin
Sugar - Michigan vs Stanford/Boise State
Orange - Clemson vs West Virginia (If Boise State taken by Sugar) or Boise State (If Stanford is taken by Sugar)
Fiesta - Oklahoma State vs West Virginia (If Stanford taken by Sugar) or Stanford (If Boise State is taken by Sugar)
