Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

Boise schedule is rubbish they play 2 good teams a year Bama play 8 good teams there is no comparison

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

LSU 8
Alabama 20
Oklahoma State 4
Texas 14

Boise State 49

You were right on the 1 stat that you were argueing, so I couldn't prove you wrong directly, was easier to just point out that you're being an irrational ********. We are both right with those claims, so i was going to leave it at that.

Anyway, our SOS is still better than some other highly rated teams such as 9-0 Stanford's 73rd rated SoS

Before UNLV and LSU entered their schedules respectively, Boise's SoS was actually stronger than Bama's.....

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

Around 04-06 we were begging the MWC for inclusion
10 we were begging the Pac-10 for inclusion (then the MWC took us)
11 we were begging the Big XII for inclusion (and the Big East will take us)

We want Pac-12, happy with Big XII, but would settle with the Big East

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

One of the other problems with the so called cupcakes is these schools play the big boys for a big payday. Georgia just hosted (and hammered) the might of New Mexico State- from what the georgia guys were saying, NMS were guaranteed a million bucks to come to Sanford Stadium. They won't turn that down when it can help balance their books.

The comparison of SOS between Alabama and Boise is laughable. Bama plays Penn State, Auburn, LSU and Arkansas. Boise plays.....Georgia? OK, we'll give you that. Who else?

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

Being reported that the Penn State Board of Trustees are organizing Joe Pa's departure from Happy Valley. Decision could come in the next few days.

Also word that Urban Meyer has been in State College looking at houses.

I don't think he should be charged. He told bosses and ultimately it was up to them to report it. Who knows what they were telling Paterno. Not ideal though, he could of done more if aware they didnt pass the message to authroities but that isnt cleared up.

Im no American Law and Order system expert so if it is found he was hiding it, after telling bosses could he be charged??

No, it's the responsibility of anyone who knew of it to ensure it was reported to police, especially a guy like Paterno who is Penn State.
Just unforgivable.

Curley's lawyer made a pathetic attempt to justify it by saying he reported it to his bosses.

Imagine if you were the father of the next kid who was assaulted?

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

It's a shame that a great coach like Joe Paterno is going to have his name tied to "child molestation" for the remainder of history. It only took the American Media 2 days to tarnish a reputation of 55 years.

You're not implying that it was the media's fault?
Paterno tarnished his own reputation.

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

Agreed, TGBB- Joe Pa has been hoist by his own petard. No, he did not do the stuff that is being prosecuted, but he was aware of it and did not do his utmost to stop it. He had the power and influence to do so years ago- obviously, the problem came down to the relationship with Sandusky- he WAS Paterno's right hand in the glory days of Penn State football, and was annointed the heir apparent, until Joe decided to hang in there forever.

I'm hoping he won't be entirely tarred and feathered for this- but he does deserve some of the blame and will probably lose his job for it. He really had a very positive influence on academics at State College- and that is something few college coaches can say.

Yeah fair enough, i can't believe i wrote that lol but i guess i got sucked in. Posted before that there could be a decision to remove JoePa from Penn. State college and I would defiitely NOT have a problem with that and infact now i'd probably support it. A shame for him to go out like this.

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

Is just a little bit of defence too much to ask out of Toledo?

Two weeks in a row now they've given up 63 points!

Though, their offence is doing well themselves putting 126 points up as well in that same 2 week period...

Neither game went to overtime. (well, unless Western Michigan can get the ball back in 1 minutes and get a field goal.)

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

I'm with TGBB and UsaLion.
Paterno is duly tarnished.
It's exactly like bishops/cardinals covering up the activities of the priests, protecting their own, and thus allowing the activities to continue -- which is why the activities in Penn State continued.

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

Now being reported that Paterno will retire at the end of the season. Let's hope the remaining games pass without any real comment or demonstration- but I doubt that is likely.

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

New to the forums and I have to say I've really enjoyed reading this thread. Some really intelligent discussions and loving the fact there's some BSU fans here! :)

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

That puts the count to 4 BSU fans off the top of my head.

But I beleive there is a few floating around as well that almost never speak.
btw - Are you a member of Broncocountry.com?

Just seeing your location as Boise, Idaho made me think you might be.

Anyway, welcome :)

Awesome! The more the better. I see your Boise, ID location. Do you go to school there?

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

Kinda shows you how big College football, or at least the Paterno name is as this is all the news since it happened.

Twitter saying that players may boycott this week's game. Don't get it.

Re: 2011-2012 College Football Discussion

My twitter timeline is blowing up regarding Penn State, massive protest (well, by the sounds of it, riot) in support of Paterno? And these are college students?!

Harvey Araton of the New York Times, on twitter:
"This is the result of a culture that mythologizes someone for having the "courage" to go for it on fourth down."

Yeah, I think people knocking over lightposts and rolling over news trucks would count as a riot
