AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Here I sit thinking about the Rookie Draft and its machinations, and all my questions and more are answered. You make our board amazing reading.
Anyway, really rate Michael Bussey as both player and person. Surprised he was overlooked. Eastern gun . Very teachable, mature, classy. Tall, 196 cm, only 82 kg, but plenty of scope as a KPB, though mainly played forward with Eastern
Alex Greenwood, highly rated at Eastern, mid, beautiful left footer, quick and clever. Best and Fairest.
Max Warren. Another Eastern mid that was highly respected by opposition coaches, never shirked a contest, fearless and creative.
Crozier and Patton naturally stole the limelight, but these 3 are worth a look.My bias is that I saw them play a dozen or more times.
Id look no further than Damien Volta from eastern, he has amazing speed and agility, great balance, hes versatile ,can play through the middle or iether end of the ground.would be a great rookie pick up.
Talent, has some indigenous mateship at Geelong, may like The City By The Bay, and the beaches. Has "failed" at 2 clubs already.Carl Peterson anyone? I was listening on SEN the other day and he and his manager stated that Geelong had spoken to him. A real talent who has had commitment issues in the past. Worth a rookie spot imo

Another kid Geelong has spoken to... Cameron Shenton 188 and 21yo

Not completely against it, but given Carl has burned 2 clubs so far with his inability to stick with the professionalism side of things, I'd be making him go through our VFL list and then assess him in 12 months, test how much he really wants it this time.
Yeah, fair enough. I know he has burnt 2 clubs but I was thinking Geelong being a country town, he might adjust better than what he would in the big smoke of Melbourne. It really is a shame to see some of these guys from the top end not make it because they can't adjust and commit.
We are probably pretty right now for taller types after Thursday. I would imagine that Wells will look to use the 2 spots with speculative midfielders. I could see him surprising us again with someone very left field that he has seen in the back blocks of Camperdown or Colac.
Of the ones that I have seen vision of though Darrou hold some interest though I'm not sure we necessarily need his type. Bussey and Boseley likewise now.

If someone knows of two Geelong region based midfielders who are ball magnets then let me know.
They will be who I reckon we will take.

We could def utilise Darrou.
We just lost Ling, and Rooke a few years back.
Could you imagine this kid with Max Rooke coaching him!!!
If there was an impending train wreck between Jordan Lockyer and Ben Darrou, and only one would walk away, I'd put my money on Darrou!
He's done everything right, would be a pity not to take him considering the loss of Rooke and Ling, we need that light-heavyweight body amongst the middleweight midfielders and flankers.
The word is he's got a bit of mongrel, would be great backup for Bundy and others. Whatsmore he likes to dish off and bring others into the game.
Would be stoked if we gave him a chance.

Agreed! I hope he is fully bearded if we take him
As a key backman for Vic Metro, with limited opportunity in a dominant side, young Ben at 17yrs, 190cms, 93kg, averaged 14.5 disposals, 4 marks, 4.5 tackles. He obviously played a disiplined role down back blanketing his opponent.
Could play higher and really cut loose I imagine, one big puppy.
Mark Blicavs. Thank me later.
