FWIW I'm a big fan of rucks who already have the size (or close to it), really takes one (huge) risk out of the equation.

Agreed, Bellchambers and Goldstein are two that I immediately thought were semi decent, and that size probably had a bit to do with it.

I called Goldstein would be a gun after his debut, hopefully Bellchambers makes it 2/2.

I agree.

I'm only interested in rucks that have great size and look thick, solid, tight. They already have great physical stature which makes me wanna see how freakin' huge, solid, thick and tight they can get!

When you say a club is "linked with"...

You mean a few people on BigFooty said they might draft him?

How do Phelan or Quayle compile their mock drafts.

They are in continual contact with the recruiting departments of each AFL Club - The actual AFL club don't say they are interested in player X, may say they need a mid, ruck etc - But they often say Club Y is interested in Player P.

This is how Quayle and Phelan join up the dots - linked with Player x.

Probably mentioned already, but I've been watching Kav on the AFL website and I noticed he runs like the midfielder I most want at Essendon ... Dangerfield.

Is he fully over his injuries?

It's funny how we have different interpretations. I read somewhere he has Judd like break away speed. But personally I think he has a bit of Luke Shuey about him. Give him time to develop strength in his legs and body and we could have the player we have been craving for, ready to go in 2013.

I think Campbell could be a likely option, however his injury issues (only managed 6 of a possible 19 games for Bendigo this year) are a concern for me, time for us to go 'safe' with some types rather than speculative types.

i'd have to go back and check, but i think he played 7 games, maybe even 8. He certainly did miss the middle rounds of the season with a hotspot in his foot. But he also played some games for Old Melb's this year when team balance meant we went with belly and jenkins only. So i'm not too concerned about his injury status. And considering his tapwork and movement is better than Belly's, I'm not sure how specualtive he really is.

Just for the record, should Ross be gone by pick 31, I am fairly sure we will take Kerridge as he impressed a hell of a lot of people at Bendigo in his short time there.

Kerridge certainly did. i've been surprised at the under-selling of his potential around the traps. But i note that EQ has him in the mix with crozier for the doggies first pick. McCartney would know all about him.

WAYLEN Manson was in tears the first night of the draft camp.

The indigenous forward had arrived in Melbourne with little more than the clothes on his back and a dream to play AFL.

But after his first day, being physically tested and questioned by club recruiters at Etihad Stadium, Manson broke down. He wanted to go home.

Howard, I would only take one ruck in total - whichever draft it is. The risk via the rookie draft is that GWS have the first 9 picks or something. so we're at pick 17 or thereabouts. that's a lot of picks to hope a certain player gets through. you'd want to have two or three in mind, especially for a specialist position like the ruck, to have some chance of getting what you want.

No, they had the first 5 last year, but this year they only have pick 1. We have pick 11 in the RD

Yeah we need to be updated on any progress clips or vids on these ruckman, thanks for the motivation.

Worst thing that could happen to us in an hour and a halfs time would be

15. Ellis
16. Markworth
17. Kerridge (there goes out 31 option)
18. Kavanagh
19. ?? :s

How dare you ruin my dreams and hopes of gettings a Kav/Ross dream!!!

To top it off, Ross would probably go between 20 and 30 too so we dont get him..

AFAIK

You have way too much love for Ross mate  :p

I cant see him going any higher than out pick 31. Other clubs between the 20-30 have 2-3 players they are all set on basically apart from probably Richmond at 26, but still doubtful.

I prefer Kerridge over him, but id be happy with any at 31*

*only if Newman is gone and B.Mckenzie

If the 15-18 occur i would be happy if we took Mckenzie at 19

Bit of goss for you guys:

An Essendon representative flew up to Brisbane to have a meeting with former Lion Albert Proud yesterday. Unsure of the extent of your interest. If I had to guess I'd say it's more of a rookie chance.
