Not a snowflakes chancs in hell of Clark going to the Eagles, I mean everywhere Clark plays, they already have specialist players who are more than good enough. Sure Clark is flexible, but West Coast have too many talls if anything. Wouldnt be surprised, but would be disappointed, if you end up with pick 16 and the freo compo pick, whatever it is.

Evidence suggests otherwise:

But lions still have draft picks 16,30,35

Note. I see WCE posters happliy talking about the possibility of trading Lycett to adeliade/port adel. Yet when a clark and Lycett swap they just go "nup, no way". Its Bizzare :S

After reading the Lion contingent was the largest at the combine, I would say that there is no chance that pick 8 is going anywhere.

Greg Denham as indicated on SEN today that Tippet will not be going anywhere. KB has been hearing that Beams wants to go to Brisbane along with many others, and the word is that Toovey has been traded to a WA club, not sure which one. Just thought I'd provide an update since I have a few days off work.

I could handle a complicated 3 way deal that sees the lions & crows swap 1st picks as part of the deal, but not to lose both clark & a top 10 pick in trade week.

Agreed, I too don't want to lose pick 8, but happy to marginally assist if it means slightly topping up the compo received for Clark...be it Freo/WCE first rounder and player Griffin/Butler and one of our compo picks/Patfull but that's it and even then I don't think we should/reluctant to.

I get nervous when I hear of the Lions interest in trading perhaps I am still spooked by 2009 trade week. Yes, I realise we have different people at the helm............. but....... Unfortunately reading this thread doesn't ease my fears, with suggestions of throwing away 1st rounders like confetti.

The difference between Clark & Tippett should be minimal. One is a better forward and the other is a better ruck, there should be no 1st round sweetners required by either party if anything was to happen.

The Lions & trading still sends shivers down my spine.

Absolutely and I'm not convinced having looked at Tippett's stats:

In short, in his 81 games, he only averages 9.8 disposals a game, 3.7 marks, 8.0 hitouts and 1.8 goals a game...certainly not worth throwing in pick 8 IMO and he would expect more than $500K.

Conversely Mitch in his 82 games, averages 13.6 disposals per game, 5.0 marks, 11.0 hitouts and 0.7 goals a game.

For whatever reason, I was expecting Tippett to have much greater numbers and confirms to me that he is not worth much more, if at all, than Clark...simple argument yes, but as Bobby said I am spooked by our club at the trade table.

No one has a less accurate hit rate at this time of year than Denham. He is Naitawhoey with a radio show/newspaper column.

Coll get Z.Clarke (Victorian) & pick 16
- Clarke to help Jolly (will be 30 this year)
- Pick 16 (could pick up a good quality young player)

We'll pick up Tippett next year & It won't cost us the universe. Probably will still be out of Gold Coast's reach in salary cap terms.

What will the Lions salary cap be like in 2013?

What contracts expire at the end of 2012 and need renewing? Just curious more than anything. Will you need to re-sign any young guns?

Will Brisbane make a play for Beams? Again, just curious. Beams seems to be the recent talk. At least on BigFooty.

If Tippett actually wants to leave i think it will get done because AFC will not want a disgruntled player/risk losing him for nothing next year. I think the pick 8 plus patfull is fair however if we give up Redden or Polec im pretty sure i'll never watch a Lions game again...

We lose Clark and all we get is upgrading our first pick 2 places and upgrading our pick 34 to pick 23 in a weak draft.

Port and West Coast do very well.

Listening to SEN (I know- grain of salt and all that) But it was reported that the Tippett trade WILL NOT happen, not even on anyone's radar.. I would love Tippett, but this has all started from nothing.

On the Flip side, it was said the Beams trade is HIGHLY likely with both clubs working on it as we speak.

I know.. SEN, just another rumor.. but it kinder goes with my thinking on the situation. Would love Tippett but I just dont know.
