Federer keeps coming to the net and just keeps getting passed.

He seems a little too eager to get to the net. I mean fair enough he wants to shorten the points, but hitting a crosscourt approach to Nadal is just begging to be drilled on the pass.

At the moment though it's the silly mistakes that are killing him.

Could he be using that tactic because Rafa stands so far behind the baseline sometimes???
 
I'm not sure about the rationale, but Nadal is already a great passer. Approaching on a crosscourt shot just gives him way too many angles to work with.

Mostly he approaches down the line, but occasionally he throws in a CC and he almost always gets burned.
 
Put me down as someone who'd rather see good tennis than an Australian play (unless the Aussie was likely to be competitive).
