HI there,
Just wanting an update on Sandi. Is he right to go round 1? Is he under an unjury cloud? (been hearing he has a claf rpoblem?)

Thanks!

Not likely he'll play 22 games as he's rookie listed and only likely to be available thru Viv Michie moving to the LTI list. Looking like our midfield depth will be somewhat replenished this year so he'd be behind a fair few names, but Ross is a fan of him so he may get a good 10-15 games by the looks of things.

Thanks for the info.

Looking for another mid priced defender, opinions on Silvagni?

Not great that he hasn't played nab and although I think he'll be great for us not I'm sure if that will transfer in DT points but after being played forward in the wafl preseason could he be up for an early switch forward? Particularly if Anthony doesn't fire?

Broughton's too expensive and not sold on ibbo or suban or am I better off looking elsewhere?

I had Suban but now changed him.
He was given lots of opportunity but failed to get involved often enough, an i had concerns about his actual 1 on 1 defensive ability.
So if hes not getting involved in bringing it out much he will not keep that spot.
Expecting Broughton to be back there more often an saw signs of it in nab rnd 4.

I rate Silvagni ahead of Dawson in defense, Lyon still rates Dawson ahead though.
So cant see him getting games back there unless injuries.
An not much of a big disposal getter, more of a stopper.
If he goes forward that will help his scores.

IMO not worth the risk for DT
Def worth it for Freo to get him playing though.

Broughton is a must, make changes elsewhere to get him in :) especially if he plays midfield first few rounds.

If your after a mid pricer look outside of Freo.
Im considering Lake, cheap, Bulldogs showed signs of chipping it around the back half a fair bit so that will help bump his scores up a little.
Might be much better 1st or 2nd year mid priced players around.

Any reason Duffield wont get back to his for of 2009 and 2010?
Why did he drop off so much last year?? About 4 less kicks and 1 or 2 less marks per game.
I originally thought because you had much less disposals compared to 2010 but 2011 was similar to 2009. Perhaps less disposals in the backline. Was there a change of game plan?

Never really followed Dawson at the saints and so far I'm struggling to see his upside over a fit and improving Silvagni but I suppose benifit of the doubt seeing as it's not round 1 yet, still hope to see Silvagni in our best 22 come september though :).

Decided you're right on Broughton and at this point have switched Marc Murphy for Goddard to get the extra cash.

Does broughton have worries about returning to the backline when Barlow and mundy come back?? I wouldn't have thought so considering how good he is the midfield but what do you guys think? Cheers

I don't the midfielders coming back will really worry Broughtons scoring ability.

Its when we lost defenders to injury last year that he was dropped back to play the lock down role that cut his scores back a bit.

Broughton will be 100avg player again this year providing our back line holds steady.

Hi guys - how do you think Fyfe will go from a SC point of view? Think he'll improve on his ave of last year?
I reckon Fyfe is only going to get better. There is the argument that he may not play as much midfield time this year, but I reckon he will score well where ever he plays. He is in my team. But I am maybe a bit biased.

Well I have finally locked in 4 Freo players into my SC team..

Broughton: Training all preseason with the mids is only a good thing ;) just as long as Ross doesn't use him to lock down the small forwards I'll be happy

Hill: Never considered Hilly at the start of the preaseason, but now looking at his stats and the way he has gone so long with no concerns of shin splits. It is now time to jump on one of the most elite users of the ball in our team...

Sandilands: I'm taking a small risk on him and hoping he lines up round 1 and holds up all year. I have great cover with my 3 other ruck choices and wont mind it if he gets rested once or twice. Will be a point of difference to those scared to choose him after last year...

Fyfe: Because he is Fyfe

Future upgrades/downgrade targets throughout the season:
Barlow - See how he goes in the first few round and could bring him into my side around R6-7
Neale - If one of my mid rookies don't work out and Neale gets named he will be in. Contested ball winner means big SC scores...

What's the latest on Neale?

Was having a solid pre-season and looks like he'll be healthy by round 2 at the latest.

Is he likely to come straight in or more likely to be sent off to the WAFL for a couple of weeks first?

Could get a run in the WAFL coming back from his injury so i would not start with him in the team. He'll be a player to jump on once you know he has JS and has played 2 game and about to jump.

What's the go with Pearce? NAB cup flash in the pan or real deal this year?

Could be flash in a pan but taking that perfomance aside he is still just a depth player. Will be in and out of the side every 2nd week and this would make him a bad choice for SC/DT.

hey guys just a couple of queries on your players your thoughts would be much appreciated . (supercoach)

broughton - anyone have any idea on his role this year ?

spurr - can this kid still be elevated ? (i've been reading mixed reports on this matter i'm confused lol ) and if he does i presume he will play with minimal job security but what is his scoring pot like ??

thanks in advance

I'm not too sure on Broughton so will leave that to someone else but whilst Spurr still can be elevated it is unlikely that he will as we currently only have one elevation and he is behind clancee pearce in the pecking order currently

Broughton trained midfield, spent most of time in preseason in midfield.
Will start year as a midfielder.
Playing there bookmark him to avg about 25disposals a game.

My feeling however is we have no small defenders.
So once we get 1 or 2 midfielders back he will need to be shifted back to defence.
Can still count on him to get involved with moving ball out, setting up attacks etc but will drop to around 20 disposals.
