Hamish Hartlett, guy will be an absolute GUN

Hidden gem?

I don't think Hartlett will be providing any surprises to anyone with half a football brain.

Of the more senior players at Collingwood I am looking for a breakout year from Wood. And I havent written Buckley off yet either, whilst the return to Macaffer of his 2010 form will be welcome. And Marty Clarke is back and might fly under the radar for a while.

Of the younger players, apart from Fasolo and Witts who arent really "hidden", I'll be watching for some impressive performaces from Young and Seedsman.

From reading this thread it seems people have confused 'Hidden Gems' with 'Players you think will have a break-out year'.

Someone like Luke Lowden is 'hidden'. Not a McCaffer (sp?), Hartlett, et al who were established top 25 players at their club last season.

For us, Jamie Macmillan.

Has played a few games in his first two years on the list. Got his face smashed open last year putting his head over the ball.

Came back and played last few games.

Looks set to take over Brady Rawlings' spot in the backline and can push up into the midfield or a wing. Very clean user and great footy brain.

Kind of bloke who is unobtrusive but could end up playing 22 games next year.

Arnot may play early and could well be more than serviceable, if not brilliant. Very mature body, excellent attack on the ball and has been told to model himself on Hardwick.

His gait and a tad laconic left foot kicking style remind me of someone, but until they all start running around again I just can't put my finger on it.

Coaches also like Dylan Grimes, who although he played 7 games last year might still be regarded as hidden.

I'd also look out for Callum Bartlett from the Lions. If he can stay together he could be very good.

Watch out for Brandon Lee if he gets a game for us. Mature age ball magnet.

It's Brendan Lee. Brandon is the dead actor from The Crow movies. :thumbsu:

This made me giggle. :D

For us, has to be B.Smedts. From all reports has more talent than the likes of Christensen and Duncan. But potential is one thing i guess...

It was more to do with the medical room comment

"hiding their promise in the medical room"

Mitch Banner. Came into the side last year and performed quite well as a small forward in a crap side, and yet nobody (including a lot of Port supporters) seemed to notice. Simon Phillips could be another one if he can fix up his fumbling.

Mitch Banner is from my home town, I actually talk to his family, he's an exciting player.. Unfortunately Port Adelaide are an unorganized club with a lack of talent and don't support him. He needs to be a starter on the wing in my opinion and get the minutes needed and he could help Port Adelaide immensely.

But I believe that from my club Jack Watts will improve yet again and finally live up to his 1st pick expectancy. And also Jack Grimes to finally have a good full season, and Mark Jamar to retrieve premium ruck status with the big boys Cox, Sandilands, Leuenberger.. Etc.

I like Banner, he can play.

I think he will be a slow burner, which usually works against a young player as many supporters expect to see them come in and tear games apart.

All clubs have supporters like these.

As discussed, Koby Stevens from the Eagles. Expect him to cement himself in our 22 by round 5.

Will be given first crack in round one over other players because of his brilliant pre season form (nab cup will play a factor too). Seriously strong tackler and tough as nails.

From other clubs, Jarad Polec even though he was a high draft pick in 2010. Have a feeling he will tear it up for the Lions'. Same with Josh Caddy. So these two are sort of in the breakout year category.

Jordan Lockyer looks the good for Sydney and would not be surprised to see him play 15 games and be a solid player for a late pick.

Kyal Horsley, Aaron Hall, Jason Tutt and Beau Wilkes are all a chance to be in their teams best 22 by the end of the year imo.

Beau Wilkes.

Seems to be coming off a decent performance in the WAFL grand final.

More hope than expectation I guess. These recycled guys could be anything.

If he plays FF he's a chance for sure here are his stats for 2011. Only got 42.14 for the year but take note on when he started playing forward. From round 12 until the grand final he only kicked under 2 goals for two games with one of them him scored 1 still.

So once moved forward he showed what he had and got best on for the grand final with 5 goals.

Horsley and Tutt are just about in their team's best 22 already IMO. Wilkes only has to surpass Jason Blake or Kozi to do the same, which wouldn't be hard.
