Richmond are no chance to make the 8. their best is maybe just good enough for 7th or 8th spot and they haven't been able to string together a good season for 10 years now. Once you take away Riewoldt, Cotchin, Martin and Deledio- they are a team of hacks.

Of course they are. Only a fool would say otherwise.

Geelong to 6th? It's easy to be defensive of our own team, but why? Ling is a lost, but the young guys will be / should be better. Just don't see it but happy to hear the reasoning.

As much as I'd love them to be higher up there, I just feel their older players such as Corey, Chapman, Ottens, Enright and Scarlett will start to struggle. I did make a similar prediction this time last year, and they impressively proved me wrong but I think they also may lose hunger, and be less driven for a premiership after their success in 2011. I know it sounds stupid what I'm saying, and this is pretty ridiculous in me saying this, but I think they may be almost 'satisfied' after winning three.

I would have them behind Port but for the fact they have Pav.

Freo combined with a negative brand of coach (Lyon) will not work well, plus Lyon has already displayed his teams do not play well when away from the roof of Etihad. With Pattersons as a home ground, their inability to win away from home and a negative coach I see Freo in free fall and Lyon being sacked midway through 2013.

What is it with all of these predictions having Richmond finish in the bottom 4.
This will be our 3rd year in our long-term plan which has been sited as the 'finals' year. Look, I'm not going to be delusional and say that we are a certainty for the top 8 this year, but it would be an extremely rare situation if we were to go backwards.

Things happen every year that people don't expect.
West Coast came top four after a wooden spoon year.
Geelong, despite claims that their time of success is over, won the GF this year.
Saints, after being in the past 3 Grand Finals had only just made the eight on a mid-late season berth.

Anything can happen. What would you say if Port Adelaide had suddenly stepped up and was a top four side?

A teams success can also be based on minor things such as a good fixture, or an extreme lift from certain players.

We'l finish somewhere between 8th-11th, depending on injuries most likely.

If the four you mentioned play every game, as well as Vickery, Rance and Foley, then we will be pretty competitive fighting it out for that 8th spot.

And mate, of course if you take out our best 4 players we will struggle, so would most mid table sides.

Take out Watson, Zaharakis, Hurley and Fletcher and the bombers probably don't finish 8th.

Take out Judd, Murphy, Gibbs and Scotland and how do Carlton go?

Pretty silly comment.

I think a lot of people are of the belief that our back 6 is going to let us down like it has over the past few years. For a large part of last year however we had injuries to a number of key players (Grimes, Moore, Newman + Batchelor later in the year, also Astbury to a lesser degree) which means a lot of the responsibility fell on the shoulders of kids essentially. I'm talking the likes of Rance who had a great year and Post who is still finding his feet at the top level. We have addressed some of these concerns by drafting Morris who will be playing a lockdown role on small-forward which we have severely lacked for years. Hopefully with guys coming back we can release Deledio into the forward half of the ground where he will play his best footy. I expect him to play career best footy next year.

I am going to save this post and bring it out for a forum signature mid next year...

The problem with Richmond is you have no depth of good players. Cotchin, Martin, Deledio and J Riewoldt are guns, Foley, Vickery and maybe Houli are on the next level down of good players but not quite there yet, and then there's not much else. It would only take a few injuries for everything to go pearshaped, especially if it happens to Riewoldt.

Like he was injured this year?

Thread should be called "how to troll Richmond in 2012":D

Awful lot of opposition supporters starting to wear the famous Richmond chip on the shoulders.

I expect the Bay to be full of Richmond hate like the good ole days next year.

Who knows, the media might join ya.

He was still able to contribute. IIRC he didn't miss any games with his injury.

Mate, the Tigers have made the finals twice in my lifetime and don't look like adding to that any time soon. No 'Richmond hate' coming from here, you're just not very good.

Can see Hawthorn, West Coast, Collingwood, Geelong, Carlton, Fremantle, Essendon, Sydney, North, Melbourne, saints, dogs and Adelaide finishing above you next year.

And no one under the age of 50 has a Richmond chip on their shoulders.

The reason why not many people rate Richmond is that they have not shown enough to warrant it. Not because everyone is jealous of Richmond.
