Guys if you don't land a decent established mid with pick 2 then get Kelly with pick 2, I've heard he is Cotchinesque, his ball skills are definitely what you guys need & perhaps your tall forwards would greatly benefit from improved skills in the middle of the park. I hope you get solid compo for Sylvia & draft well for a change etc midfielders and defenders. Getting Cross to replace Sylvia is a no brainer he would provide hardness & great work ethic on & off field. Good luck with what happens.

Have changed my thoughts on Josh Kelly - watched a bit more of him this year and think he's the kid we should take @2 if we keep it.

Has great balance and ball skills, really silky - best endurance athlete to test at the combine and is really evasive.

Has improved his strength considerably from last year where I thought he was soft (realistically he was just not strong enough) - averaging 154 SC points per game in the TAC Cup, from 29 touches.

Yep he looks like an exciting prospect...apparently he is expected to go at 2 after what he has achieved at the combine.

Is he inside or outside? I've read conflicting views on BF.

Is he inside or outside?

Outside.

Don't think this draft has any real obvious inside talents, so best available should be the go.

Could always pick Scharenberg and turn him into Roos' vision of the modern mid haha, he's a strong lad.

Would have loved a PP so we could take a ping at Scharenberg. Probably too much of a 'risk' to take at #2 and try to turn into a mid, as opposed to a genuine midfielder like Aish or Kelly.

Taylor was very impressed with Kelly's 3km run today might be out of him and Aish if we keep pick 2. Is tomorrows GF on radio love to listen see how Aish preforms.

On melbournefc.com.au there is a headline Taylor impressed with Kelly's record run and then it links to nothing. Maybe it was all written up but then they were told to hide the article.

I love a conspiracy theory but I get the feeling Kelly is our man if we keep pick 2. He might be our man regardless and any trade might involved getting back in to the top 10 and praying he slides a bit.

He's lightly built but looks like he isn't afraid of the contest and is a natural in close. Seems to have more inside game than Aish who is incredibly good in time and space but time and space is very hard to find in the AFL. And elite endurance should allow him to play early in an outside role like how Gaff plays at West Coast.

Taylor also comes from Collingwood where they aren't afraid to pull the triggle on early selections they like. People thought Sidebottom went a little high but that worked out great. Everyone though Ellis was a better footballer than Dale Thomas. Only close draft watchers even knew who Pendlebury was before the pies took him with pick 5.

That's the way to do it really - a lot of recruiters do the opposite though.

Starting to believe Kelly might be the way to go with pick 2.
Aish has a very strong/tradition name linked to SA football history, and we may well be struggling with 'go home factor' in the future if we select him with pick 2.

i meant someone had a pick earlierthan us in the thing didnt they? GWS didnt decide where they went
Yeah GWS did. They had to trade their two remaining mini draft selections kids born jan-April from this years draft. We got the second selection and picked Hogan, GC got P1 and picked up Jack Martin (he's even better than o'merra).

martin was the one i was querying, better than o'meara is decent

eh apparently showing uqite bloody good signs at casey

Heard the opposite. He has good run but doesn't know how to impose himself at all. Still young, but it's VFL level.
