I prey that our recruiting department understands how important this upcoming draft is for us if we hold onto our picks assuming we get a pp
2,19,21 could set up our midfield for a decade

I mean this is our potential selwood, Corey , chapmAn
Or hodge Lewis Sewell

Or it could be Morton blease Strauss

Cain, I'm not huge on - I know he's greatly performed in the VFL, but he's a short term solution.

I'm not totally averse to a short term solution. We've had success with Terlich and Jones of the M variety this year. Cain in our midfield gives us another hardened body and matured mind, someone for the younger players to rally around and someone to take the heat off them as well. Also another experienced trainer down at the club.

If any team in recent history needed a priority pick before the No 1 pick its us. I hope we get it rather than a second rounder but I don't think they want GWS to lose pick 1 as it has so much currency with Boyd.

I'll be interested to hear the justification if we don't get it. A team thats has won about 20-25% of its games in the last 7 years & that includes the 'bumper years' of 8 wins in '10 &'11. Look at those years & as an aberration & take them out, we average about a 15-20% win rate.

It could be argued that we need the trade currency more than GWS.

We definitely do. Whether we're graciously gifted the pick or not is another matter.

Given how much the AFL wants GWS to succeed, I'd say it's unlikely we'd get #1. What about a first round pick adjacent to our current pick, ie #2, #3? That'd cover GWS but allow us to draft in another top talent whilst sticking two fingers up at the rest of the competition.

Preaching to the converted my good man. They have the makings of an epic team in 3-5 years we have the making of an epic episode of the Benny Hill Show.

One that no one laughs at. :(

I would take that, as much as I'd love P1 that does give us enough bait to get a top 10-15 mid in the comp. Even higher if they want out already or are looking for more coin.

Who does Melbourne take if GWS takes Aish instead? This is very plausible given that Buddy is a strong chance of going to them...Buddy, Patton, Cameron - doubt they would take Boyd as well.

Do we go for the Tambling?

Goddamit, it would be good if trading was done DURING the draft as well, ala NFL.

If Roos signs, the landscape changes

If we get a PP (say # 1), I think we'd be in a better position to trade in an A grade mid in return for gifting a team Boyd

who that mid is, no idea

Even with those the win rate is 22% - although there were two draws in there.

Seems odd to make two submissions. We want beginning of R1, end of. Would imagine it's not an all or nothing scenario.

My thinking had been that we were no chance of getting picks 1 and 3 because the AFL wants clubs to get a crack at the draft for the first time in ages.

However, with Adelaide and Essendon both out of the first two rounds (lolz) it does bump plenty of clubs up one or two spots. That can only be a good thing for us.

While I like a meme as much as the next man...

"It goes on to say MFC have made submission for either beginning of R1 or end of R1 PP."
