Dodged Buddy early, hoping for deviation to help me out.
Ruck is primary concern. If Currie isn't viable early then Roughy to R2 and Macaffer to F6, not the worst option.

Feedback? Criticisms?

I like this team, very heavily stacked in the Backs and Mids IMO but some good point of difference choices in Boyd and Byrnes if they pay off.

Big risks with Suban and Macaffer, but if they pay off than you'll be laughing.

Hanley could be a great POD but he needs more consistency than he's had. Question mark over Suban.
Like the premium MIDs although I think there are better options than Boyd at the price, namely Jack and Murphy. I wouldn't be compromising MID rookies to get DPP links. Kerridge belongs in the FWDs and Vlastuin in the DEFs and players like Stevens, Wines and Mitchell should be looked at.
I think it's absolutely crazy to be starting a rookie 2nd RUC (i.e. Currie). Everyone is talking him up, but Goldstein will be #1 RUC with 100% certainty and it is most likely North will play a single RUC.
FWDs look good but I'd take Varcoe of Karnezis and I'd take Robinson over Wright (if trying to stick to that price).

I'd probably try and balance the team out a little better. Very concerned with your Backs and Rucks and lots of risks in the team (Lake, Fyfe, Martin, LeCras, Macaffer)

I think this team is really well balanced and has quite a few good POD options. If I had to make any criticism it would be whether you think you're going to get enough bang for your buck out of Robinson & Varcoe, but really I cannot fault that list. Very good team!

Imo not to sure about yarran as he has been a bit scratchy last season. I would recommend a mature aged rookie as there are plenty of them this year such as Van Unen or the likes. This will free up some cash and then you could maybe upgrade leauy as he may be a hit and miss if he is playing.

Pretty solid team.
Just a few things;

Luenburger is looking like he will miss round 1 and possibly more so I would advise against selecting him.

Yarran is a risk in defence as he has burned a few in the past, if Malthouse can get the best out of him and it pays off he will be a great choice as he has potential to be a good scorer.

Like your mids and as with everyone, forward rookies are a concern.

Very strong defence which could potentially make up for no Ablett and Franklin, as I'm guessing you think you can pick them up cheaper later on which could happen and save you a lot of cash. However Staker will miss the first few weeks so i'd swap him for a Stevenson/Goodes/Terlich/Pittard/Docherty depending who is named round 1

Forwards, especially rookies are the hardest to pick this year, you've done well in reducing the amount of rookies on the field. But I think you might be better off swapping say Waters for one of the rookie defenders I mentioned earlier as the rookie defenders are a lot better than forward rookies and should be good cows, and using that cash to upgrade your forward line. You could upgrade one of Karnezis/Byrnes to a Zorko/SJohnson/Roughead. Leave Cox in rucks that way.

Yeh that's the idea, Hawthorn have a tough start so hoping Buddy is quite.

Goodes/Terlich/Stevenson have been on the radar just waiting to hear team news on who gets pick etc.

I might have a look into downgrading a backman, preferably Waters and loading up somewhere else.

I am considering taking Shuey out for Moloney and then taking Varcoe in the forward line. Thoughts?

Shuey's work the risk with 7 games over 120 last year. I'd take out Selwood for Moloney and then upgrade Wright or LeCras to either Cox or Zorko.

Selwood's price unlikely to change much, consider for a future upgrade target.

Have had to make some compromises and sacrifices such as going a bit light down back (but I figure it's more worth it as there are a wealth of rookie defenders), and also the noticeable absence of Franklin.

I think it looks like a pretty good team.
Missing Franklin (the GAJ of the fwd line) but that is your call. One too many rookies fwd i think. If you can find a way to push Varcoe to F6 (if you want to keep him) would make it look stronger. Might be a donut in R1 otherwise.

Thanks man. I've actually found a way to fit Buddy into my team. The changes I've made are:

Maric --> Jacobs
Fyfe --> Mundy
Bartel --> Buddy

I think I'm just going to have to take a risk with the forward rookies. Not much I can do as I don't have the cash to play with, and that's about as balanced as I can get.
