I realised after round 5 that I had no chance overall. I have since built a team that has 14 players that will have bye's in round 11. I will lose in round 11 against the luckiest team in my only cash league, it sits 3rd on the ladder but is only 10th in total points.

I would LOL if this tankjob got my round 11 opponent into the finals at the expense of one of the three teams that are clearly stronger, but are already two games behind the 3rd team.

The added bonus about TooSerious is that it shows you if you've got any "overflow", i.e. players who you can't get on to the field because of your bye structure so won't be able to count in that bye week.

Ha, wish I knew about this earlier. I spent 3 hours working out a trade scenario to get me through the byes on excel. If I don't get a single injury or rested player in the next 4 rounds I should be able to get 18/19/19 through the byes without sideways trading. It's mostly about getting rid of non-playing duds on the bench.
Looking at Leuy> NN and VIney>Ball this week

I also planned my team on excel. I just found that while the tooserious site is good, it's a bit simple and a hard to actually visualise your team structure through each bye round. And also I can see properly how many premiums I'm playing in each round with my excel team.

For anyone interested, you need to make an account with tooserious.net, then go to your profile and click on My Teams on the banner.

Sort of taking the view that it may be better for me to head into round 11 with just the 19 on the field giving me more flexibility in later rounds and protection in case injuries hit and ending up having to sideways a premium or two just for a 1-2 week injury/suspension, or having to trade a low priced rookie who may just be missing for a week.

If I have 19 starters for Rd 11 I'd be happy with that. :):thumbsu:

Not sure, I use firefox and it works just fine on that. I assume you followed all the instructions because they are quite simple.

Just out of curiosity... why are you using Internet Explorer? I think most would agree Chrome or Firefox are muuuuch better browsers.

Good question o_O, never really thought about it much, think im a creature of habit :(

mapped out my trades for the next month.

this week terlich and leuenberger to pendles and staker.

Next week, stevenson to hrovat and possibly rowe to gorringe (form pending) to build up the kitty.

after round 12 kennedy comes in for Jaeger and martin/Nroo/Martin (can't believe i just said that) for dwyer.

should leave me with 12 trades left and one midfield upgrade to make

Why would you trade Terlich this week and not Stevenson? 1 is playing and will make you more $$ whilst the other won't lose or gain money. Trade Stevenson > Staker this week then Terlich next week

need the extra dosh to get pendles.

If i trade out stevenson instead the best premo mid I can bring in is selwood

I thought I had a good bye strategy, aiming to use trades to have no more than 9 or 10 players unavailable through byes each week. But it hasn't worked out that way. I have a team this weekend that has 1 donut, but if those same players were available in the bye weeks I would have just 16 playing in rounds 11 and 12 and only 12 playing in round 13. Trades and possible returns will improve round 13 but it will still be 15 or 16 playing at best.

The problem with the bye weeks is that those who run SC still don't have it right. Only counting the best 18 is an improvement on last year, but it should be the best 15. In normal weeks we score from 22 of our 30 players. That's 73.33%. On average we will have 20 players available in each of the bye weeks. If that same percentage applied we would score from 73.33% of 20 players which is 14.66 players.

If only the best 15 players counted it would still advantage those lucky/clever enough to get more players on the field each bye week as they would have more low scores to leave out, but it wouldn't decimate the majority of teams the way the current system does.

I think I may in fact escape it a bit better then most.

As it is after my 2 trades for the upcoming round I have a 7/12/11 split in that order.

If I play my cards right I should be able to ensure its a 7/10/9 split which obviously limits my bagels.

If all things go to plan I think there are 2 trades that should be bankers over this period.

That's Hrovat following his round 11 bye and prior to his hopefully 3rd game in round 12 and Tom Mitchell following his round 12 bye and prior to round 13 which will be his 3rd game.

I'm fortunate enough to also have over 300k sitting in the bank so prior to round 12 I plan on bringing a premium from 1 of the round 11 bye teams (Cotchin, Deledio, Birchall, Mitchell) and the same following round 12 (Nic Nat, Bartel, Selwood).

I think the above model will work best for me and hopefully afew other people can benefit from it.

PS: Is there anyway possible to avoid any bagels ?

EDIT: I didn't realise only 18 players were counted. I am in a far better position then I thought.

The easiest..... maybe not best.... is to have 9 playing players from each round... so if you have 29 playing players (whole bunch minus ruck) you can distribute players to maximize the total pts from the byes.

At this stage it looks Ill have 19/19/18 players available pending injuries and some rook selections.

I'm assuming you'll still be able to do the emergency loophole?
