So I was lucky enough to attend umpire training on Wednesday and found it interesting that the example of a fictional character "Troy" from Beenleigh is used when explaining how to break up a melee. This "Troy" apparently had someone in a headlock on the weekend and when asked by his name to remove himself he was happy to oblige.

Is this news worthy? probably not but the thread is a little dead of late.

The reference to his flashy boots was also quite interesting! However I did get confused when they said he'd played a good game!

Divo - sort it out - cant have the league messing with footy trips!!

swooper i heard you once had a bloke in a headlock - but at the same time where whispering in his ear that you were doing him a favour by protecting him from Muzza!!

Ha ha gold!

Actually I noticed he hadn't applied sunscreen correctly to his neck and I was just trying to protect him from getting burnt!

On behalf of Coomera AFC I would like to extend a big thank you to the Carrara FC trainer that came to the aid of our Life Member, Don, when he took a bad turn today.

Your help was very much appreciated and you are a testament to your club.

Thank you.

Gee Morro goes away on holidays and everyone goes a bit quiet!

How were the games yesterday? It was a great day yesterday breaking in the Neilsen Rd oval for the first time in 2013. Centre was hard and if you play a wet game there and end up on the wing, pack yourself a picnic blanket! Nice and wide!

Some of the music selection that was played was a bit questionable. Perhaps someone should jump on iTunes and invest in some new music lads!! Ha ha makes for a great atmosphere though!

Ill shed a little light on the Beenleigh v Logan games in the Morris absence,

Ressies was pretty hard fought with ambulances on the field twice for two different incidents ( one from either team). Which saw us loose probably a full quarter and then some in playing time. Very close game with both teams have lots of opportunities but nether able to capitalise too much. Beenleigh was down by 3 goals with about 5 mins to go and looked like they could run away with it but logan slowed their play down and took a bit of control, winning by a kick in the end.

Seniors was a different stories completely. No only in the sense of the score board but injury wise as well. Almost no scuffs and very minor injuries. The Beenleigh team was the better team by a long way after the first quarter and continued to run away with the game until the 4th where the quarter was still all buffs but not by so much as the 2md and 3rd.

Cheers!

Came up against a class outfit yesterday coomera have done some good recruiting will take some beating, gave us Carrara boys something to think about,

You could start by telling the club official (that did your goal umpiring in seniors) that standing on the field as Reserves were in position for first bounce and yelling "Hey Swoopa. Old, fat and slow mate" whilst patting his tummy isn't the best example for your young squad.

I believe he would've had a nice serving of humble pie with the copious amounts of dim sims he obviously smashed down pre-game when I kicked our opening goal and proudly patted my tummy towards the bench.

I generally like to see the good in people but if you act like a w@nker you deserve to be treated like a w@nker.

Mitch looked like beenleigh had some handy new recruits.

Serious height and size about them. Your senior team looked first rate best of luck for a good year!

Don't see anything wrong with that swoopa! Bit of banter from the sidelines with no abusive language used! I cop that most games but normally abit more language only difference is I am to old fat and slow! I wouldn't get to upset by it as some of the stuff coming from your supporters was a lot worse than fat and slow. Really don't believe there was to much malice intended

is there a more durable bloke to have ever played footy then Al Corrie - a lazy 6 on the weekend! he will be handy every couple of weeks for the buffs.

Did the last quarter of that game go for 6 hrs? is the match report correct that the last quarter there were 32 scoring shots with Beenleigh kicking 7.13 and logan 9.3 for the quarter?

thats some serious flood gates opening!!

I agree 100% Budgey that some "friendly banter" from the sidelines is acceptable and a common occurrence. Strangely enough as a pasty red head I do hear a little bit (your balcony included).

My comment is more directed around the fact a club official gave an individual opposing player a direct spray before the ball had even been bounced ON the field. This is about presenting the right attitude to your young (yes I said it- young) squad. What message does that send the players? The game was made out to be bigger than Ben-Hur and for little reason. However the message from your officials should have been about the process of playing the game with the end result being a possible victory.

I couldn't care less what the guy thinks about me or our team but to make that sort of statement to your players is a bold move. Like I've said you have a very talented group and if it isn't this year it will be the next for you guys to be right up the top, however, at this stage attitude is far out weighing ability for some (and I'm not necessarily referring to players).

I'm not here to bag a club and as a general fence sitter this is probably foreign water to me. Just love my footy and would hate to see Carrara become "that club" because of the influence of a few.

(Ps you also played well Budgey and got a lot of wraps from our bench. See I'm back to Mr Nice Guy)

Well after a big start to the season it is starting to all take shape...

Anyone going to venture a tip for an upset this week?

Beenleigh V UQ
Carrara V Calamvale
Coomera V Roosters
Logan V Ippy

I think Match of the round will go to Logan and Ippy as it may be the most competative. Although I would like to see the other games go that way as well.
