can someone please explain why Calamvale are called the Mighty Leopards? Their recond on the field since 2006 would be the worst ever in this comp, looking at the scores against them each week reminds me of the old Marsden teams of the 90's, should they drop a division to find some success?

Round 9

Ipswich vs Coomera - Ippy will put up an early fight at home but I have Coomera by a decent margin in this one
Pine Rivers v Carrara - I agree with swoopa that rivers will be the big improvers and i say starting this week at home to safely put away carrara
UQ v Logan - UQ have improved since the start of the season and will challenge here Logan in a close one
Calamvale v Beenleigh - Beenleigh back on the winners board this week - big effort before the bye.
Moorooka with the week off to reflect on the first half of the season. Not sure if the Pearson brothers will bother coming down to see Beenleigh v Calamvale though.
Pine Rivers have plenty of upside to their team and will be the team to beat at the business end Im tipping, Coomera are way out in front at present, should be a great finals series but alot of water to flow under the bridge before then!

Our results have not been the greatest over that period of time due to several reasons... BUT most clubs would at least back me when I say that we have Mighty heart in each game we play and teams know they have played the Leopards. We also all enjoy our footy despite results which again I think others would agree with. You with a team from this comp?

Well said Mighty. I believe they were similar words that I said to your lads after the game at Coomera last year.

In regards to the name of the club reflecting the club itself, I can't say I have seen anybody at GWS that is over 10 foot tall....

You would have to add Beenleigh to that pair as well. They're travelling along nicely and will also improve.

No Clue - Please let everyone continue to forget that Beenleigh exists. We are happy to be over here alone waiting to strike :)
Sorry Buffs. Not gonna happen. Everyone is quite aware of your lads and I'd say the finals series will be closer than it has been for some years. In both grades.

If AFLQ choose to play on the Queens Birthday long weekend I believe they should be required to personally call the partner of every player and explain there is to be nothing planned for that weekend!

You have some players away for the long weekend?
Yeah several blokes I think may have assumed there would be a bye.

That shouldn't take away from Pine Rivers though because they were better in both grades on the day. We predicted they would be the team to beat in both grades.

Thanks to the ippy boys for hosting the red lions on Saturday. Good old hard and close struggle in the ressies but the Ippy seniors are the real deal - very classy and slick footy lads.

Great to have the Uni boys out to the Swich. Great bunch of guys. We are building t o hopefully have a crack at Finals for the first time since 2009. Good luck this week UNI against the Roosters I think that will be a closer game than many expect.....

Ipswich look on track to finish 4th, with Logan taking the last spot, behind Coomera, Beenleigh and Pine Rivers. Griffith I think will fall out.

Yes hope so

Yes hope so I think Griffith are the most improved side in the comp but the massive pre season they had may come back to bite them. It is as a very close comp though so anything can happen. All sides apart from Calamvale and UQ are still in the humt which is great for the comp

come on swooper its been 3 days.....

Surely the cliche of "it was the loss we needed to have" is going to be wheeled out soon?
We are just taking it one week at a time. Looking to play 4 good quarters. Stick to our structures and the wins will come.

How about those cliches instead? :D

just getting our game plan right and the score board will take care of itself hey?
That's the one! Ha ha

3 losses as a club for the year is hardly panic stations. We are disappointed with a couple of little things but we know we have the talent to bounce back. Our depth has been tested and we've seen some good signs, however we are all here to get the W's so we will be extremely hungry.
