2013 Triple J Hottest 100‏

Sunday is the only Earl Sweatshirt song getting any votes, and I have it currently at #253 so very little chance of making the 100.

Wow, Earl Sweatshirt was hugely popular at the start of the year. All about timing I guess. MSMR - Fantasy is a better song then Hurricane IMO, yet it looks like Fantasy will be about 50 spots of where Hurricane placed last year.

I'll start with the ones that I consider having no chance at all of making the top 100. I will take a look at those I think are too high/too low later.

Finally made my picks:

Arctic Monkeys - "Fireside"
Boy & Bear - "Southern Son"
California X - "Spider X"
Deafheaven - "Dream House"
Iceage - "Ecstasy"
Pissed Jeans - "Romanticize Me"
Pusha T - "Numbers on the Boards"
Queens of the Stone Age - "Smooth Sailing"
Savages - "Shut Up"
The Trouble With Templeton - "You Are New"

extremely surprised that Skrillex doesn't seem a chance according to you thewitness with how popular he's been the last few years. Same with Bernard Fanning. Cut Copy was another I thought was a lock for the 100.

ohwell, can't win them all.

The audience ams a fickle mistress. People can turn on artists pretty quickly once they think they're no longer cool or, weirdly, if they have become 'too cool'. I think Fanning has been around for too long to really be able to remain relevant with a broad audience or seem 'fresh' with his ideas, while Skrillex had a '15 minutes' of fame type scenario where he was the coolest thing ever for a while, was widely imitated and overplayed but didn't have the replayability to survive.

My votes for those who are counting:
Vampire Weekend - Hannah Hunt
Arctic Monkeys - I Wanna Be Yours
Disclosure, AlunaGeorge - White Noise
Foals - My Number
Jagwar Ma - Uncertainty
Kanye West - Hold My Liquor
CHVRCHES - Lies
Queens Of The Stone Age - I Appear Missing
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Sacrilege
Violent Soho - Covered in Chrome

Just had a look at the iTunes charts, and Strong by London Grammar is in the top ten singles. Given this current popularity (and their recent festival appearances), surely it would have to be a big chance for the Top 10/15?

I feel the same has happened with 360. At least I hope. Did anyone hear his new song on Breakfast this morning? Terrible. It's a shame, because his Forthwrite stuff which came out 6(!) years ago now was really cool, as were the Please Be Seated mixtapes. Went downhill from there.

Does anyone remember other markets being open for betting in the other years (most songs in, top 5, song vs song, etc) earlier than this year? Could the betting agencies be scared off the other markets after being cleaned out last year?

Hannah Hunt was not on the shortlist IIRC, where does that rank list-compiling bros?

In my count I currently have it at #101, but I think there is a bit of a bias towards this song from the music forums, as opposed to the general voter. So I would think that its a bit lower then that. But might make it into the top #200.

Well I figured that reflektor will be in the top 10 regardless so I voted for Normal Person as it's my favourite and there's a chance to boost it up higher.

A good way of looking at it :thumbsu:
Absolutely outstanding track! Probably my favorite Arcade Fire track they've ever done tbh.

Same here, I went away over New Years with a bunch of friends and didn't stop singing it the entire time. I no longer have friends.
