How am I trying to downplay the problem? Pieces of f***ing chairs were thrown as well as bottles filled with water, beer, pizza boxes, food, chips, you name it - it was thrown. Do you honestly think I'm ok with that? Do you think I'm ok with being metres away from a 4 year old girl almost being hit in the head with a flare?

Jesus christ mate...

Yes... I saw people being moved out of there. Security should've acted much earlier. Would've saved more injuries.

It is a massive problem.

Here is what I'm mainly proposing... Would you have been subject to this if the active supporters sat on level 1? Most definitely not. Event management - weak as piss and unorganized.

Pointing the finger at Event Management is just trying to shift the blame and very poor form.

Event Management weren't on level 3 throwing shit at people including 4 year old girls. It was the ****wits sitting up there who threw the stuff.

FFS don't try and blame someone else for what the ****wits up there were doing! The people who were "weak as piss" in this debacle were the idiots throwing the stuff.

This is getting into 'being a pain in the arse for the sake of' territory. Believe it or not, you are on the same side.

If you are referring to me here, no, I have a very different view to the one you think I am on the same side of.

For a start I'm blaming the people who threw the stuff at the families below. I'm not attempting to blame Event Management for it.

The people on Level 3 aren't two year olds who can be forgiven for throwing all their toys out of the pram when they don't get their own way - the people throwing bottles and anything else they could get their hands on were adults FFS.

Trying to point the finger at Event Management because families had to be saved from being bombed by ****wits above them was piss poor and you know it.

I don't give a **** if the people on Level 3 weren't happy with their seating arrangements. It doesn't make it acceptable for them to throw everything they could get their hands on at the families below them.

I don't give a **** if the people on Level 3 weren't happy with their seating arrangements. It doesn't give them an excuse to throw everything they could get their hands on at the families below them.
Sorry, I should have said before I 100% there is no reason to throw anything at a game, and it's very poor form from those who do.
I hope they find the ****heads that launched flares down from level 3. I wasn't far from that little girl on her dads shoulders that almost got hit. I'm not against pyro, I'm against the throwing of it.
****heads are gonna be ****heads.

You can't expect it not to happen.
I've once more explicitly said it's not acceptable and it will not be tolerated.

Don't try and blame Event Management for the reprehensible behaviour of ****wits throwing everything they could lay their hands on - including broken chairs - at families sitting below them.
It's called factoring everything in to the situation.

I've never blamed them. We all know who is at fault.

In future, measures need to be taken to ensure it doesn't happen again. Lessons need to be learnt. Punishment needs to be dealt to those responsible.

Now please stop.

Responsibility for the behaviour of the ****wits throwing stuff rest with them and them only.

How do you think a court would have responded to someone charged with seriously injury someone below with a chair leg when he comes out with "but they made me sit up there"' ?

Now please stop.

You were the one who said "please stop". Why are you still trying to argue? I'm happy to leave it there. Are you mature enough too??

i get what greater gatsby and dan cooper are saying. i dont thing GG is really saying the reasons for airborne projectiles is because they were seated on L3. i believe what GG is getting at is that if the mob were sitting on ground level, the bottles etc would only land on the ground in front of them as there is no one beneath them. only the fence in front of them.

it seems like from others who i have spoken to feel these actions are mainly teenagers. i dunno, but going on what they said then its a sign of immaturity. the same kids who if committing a crime, cover their faces when confronted with cameras.

i think we can all agree this shit isnt on. you dont see it like that at footy games, well i havent. we dont need this behaviour in the code. it gives anti immigration parties and trolls an excuse to bag us.

Arnie already playing mind games tonight claiming Victory will have nothing near the amount of support at AAMI they would have at Etihad.

You might be surprised how much noise 30,000 people can make Arnie :D
Who woulda thought we'd fit less people in a 30k stadium than a 50k stadium. GF is in the bag if this mental midget is the one coming up with the game plan :p

Johnny Warren medal night tonight. Surely the others are playing for 2nd here. Benny has had an amazing season that should be capped off with a medal tonight and a second one on Sunday.

FFA will reveal next season’s A-League grand final date within a month in a bid to avoid this year’s stadium fiasco.

Melbourne Victory has hinted that the MCG would be a more suitable venue this weekend, while Sydney FC have branded the AFL “a disgrace” for refusing to vacate Etihad Stadium.

Sunday’s grand final looms as the first all-member affair at the 30,000-capacity AAMI Park. Victory’s 22,000 allocation is just shy of its membership tally while Sydney FC (12,000 members) will be offered just 3500 tickets.

Football Federation chief executive David Gallop has taken a veiled swipe after high-level talks failed to secure the Docklands venue on Sunday, which will host Western Bulldogs and Fremantle.

“We will provide a date for next year’s grand final in the next month or so and trust that all parties, including the State Government, Etihad Stadium management and the AFL, will ensure the situation we are faced with this year will never happen again.’’

Fox Sports will show the final live but attempts to have the match also live on SBS failed. SBS will show the match on a one-hour delay.

Fingers crossed in half an hours time

Make sure you know your bar codes and ticket seller password ready.

I had so much trouble last time I had to get a new Ticketmaster password. If that happened this morning at 9 it might be the difference between success & failure.

This time, being AAMI stadium, it is Ticketek we have to deal with.

Tickets aren't cheap >
  • Category A: $195 adult, $150 concession, $95 child, $485 family
  • Category B: $120 adult, $95 concession, $60 child, $300 family
  • Category C (including active supporter areas): $70 adult, $60 concession, $35 child, $175 family
