Hawthorn in 2012 played as good as they can Sydney were just better.
Sydney this year probably would have won if they turned up today(they were favourites for a reason) but stayed at home.

What is Hodge's standing in the game now? 250 games. 3 Flags 2 captained and 2 Norm Smiths. Definitely a Hawthorn Legend but would he be up there as a AFL Great with Judd, Ablett, Goodes etc.?

Good big game player but nowhere near as consistent across full seasons as the better midfielders

After today, I think it confirms he has gone past Judd quite easily. Didn't fire out of the blocks as quickly in his youth but his longevity has shown him to be the better player by far IMO.

Not the same sheer talent as goodes or ablett. However very tough and an excellent leader. No nonsense footballer. I view him as a captain and leader who performs at his best in the biggest games.

Out coached, Out played, Out Tackled, Out Pressured, Out Ran. Hawthorn were as brutal to the Swans today as the Rabbits were to the roosters last night. It looked like boys verse men. Hawthorn are just a sensational football team. I hate them with a passion but it was hard not to be impressed by today's performance, just sensational.

Simpler reason for Swans defeat....turned up brushing themselves off to receive the Premiership Cup........in other words not switched on to play 4 quarters of footy (which last week they set the template for)

Hodge had OP in his first 3 years though and so couldn't display as much as Judd did early on in his career.

Great point about Juddy! Blues players (and Ratts stated this several times) did not gang up and support/protect him. Had Blues players had more balls Juddy would still be a consistently high performance player (like Ablett Jr)
