Cannot believe Stevic got a gig after the Port game.....

He payed frees to the Hawks all night and was responsible for the soft Gunston hold from 50m away early to give the Hawks a sniff and a free goal not to mention over 7 frees for them in the 2nd Qtr alone.

What a joke and Sydney will be up against another man now.
At least Troy Pannell didn't get a gig after his deplorable PF effort. He was atrocious in the Sydney vs North Melbourne game, inventing frees and pulling rabbits from his ass to keep North in the game. Deservedly dropped. He's from my neck of the woods, he umpired in the WRFL many moons ago, but since the Malceski collision he's been off the boil.

But Stevic? Is this another troll from the AFL? He's a campaigner, always has been, always will be.

Congrats to Simon Meredith, Matt Stevic and Matthew Nicholls, who will be the field umpires for Saturday's 2014 Toyota AFL Grand final.

The mountain just got a whole lot higher for Sydney...

Meredith, fair enough, he's OK. Matthew Nicholls, the bald headed idiot? He's just as bad as Stevic, making it up as the game goes.

Someone must have fired a rocket up the umpires collective asses at half time in both games, because they stopped paying obvious free kicks that they've done all year, but Stevic and Pannell continued to make blatantly wrong calls.

Was Stevic the one who paid that holding the ball decision against Jonas? I don't remember.

Oh please the umpires will be backing Sydney to the hilt on Saturday, they will be wearing red and white under their usual umpire attire.

I really see this as a line ball Gand Final. Every year Buddy has played in a Grand Final or some other key forward we hear
the same thing...who's going to stop Cloke, Roo, Roughy, Buddy, ect....
Its more likely going to be Mcglynn, Parker, Smith or Hill kicking 3 that will make a big difference.

Exactly, the big names (Roughead, Franklin) may only make cameo's and NOT dominate with 4-8 goals. It'll be the midfielders or even the lesser talent (eg: the 16th-22nd best player) who will be the deciding factor in the game.

I'm clinging to stats that probably won't matter much at the end of the day..... Hawthorn have a decent track record against Sydney at the MCG (excluding the 2012 grand final obviously :D).

They've been favouring Sydney the most this year (other than Geelong).
Forgot "in my opinion"? Stats suggest Swans are 11th in frees for, Hawks 13th. Looks like neither side is particularly favoured.

The bloke that had more to do with Hawthorn winning last years Grand Final and the man that had more to do with them winning the Prelim Final umpiring together.

Jump on the Hawks now at $2.45 their odds are not going to get any better than that.

Kudos Mark Evans you crafty bastard just got your old side back to back.

Sorry Swans not even you guys can beat Overland and Stevic working together against you

...aaaaand back to the footy.

Hawthorn seem to have Sydney's measure in the past couple of years. We only just scraped past them earlier in the year and they had a massive list of outs. The really carve up our mids and defence once they get clean possession.

Swans will have to apply manic pressure to win this. In 2012 we had something like 110 tackles as a team and O'Keefe won the norm smith with his 15.

Still, the GF is traditionally a high-pressure game (2007 excluded ) and the Swans are in good form. Hawthorn's many misfortunes this season might have taken a slight edge off the Hawks and I think the Swans should be just good enough.

Spot on and the disgrace of it is that is true. Both are Cheats and have no conscience with the way they umpire Hawthorn games. This game was genuine 50/50 until these 2 cheats were appointed. Stevic did not win the game for Hawthorn in the PF but he sure made sure that Port couldn't.

It's a sad thing how far the Cats (fans) have fallen. Not being the No.1 team has hit them so hard that they resort to this type of shit even though their own team is the one that was gifted a top 4 spot from some absolute awful umpiring in a number of games. They are too blind to even see it. I'm not sure whether it's trolling or just one of the worst cases of delusion and entitlement imaginable.

They were duly exposed for the pretenders they were in finals though.

Silly question (and in my first post nonetheless) but I could not find the answer on the original post. A friend of mine has bought a ticket to the GF but now is unable to attend. I want to buy it at the sale price (there won't be a premium added). Is there a form I need to complete to declare this? I don't want to show up on the big day and get in trouble.

Any assistance would be much appreciated!

How about if it goes to the 2012 script and the Hawks are gifted twice the number of frees as the Swans?

What would be funny is if the umpires over-compensated for their Hawks bias and the Swans miraculously won the free kick count - and the game because of it.
Did you see the 2008 Grand Final free kick count against the Hawks? We are not always gifted. lol

I still think Sydney will get some cherry ripe calls that will make Hawthorn see red :p. I'm sure both sides will cop a howler or 2 that results in a controversial goal.

After the game the losing team will blame the umpires for winning the game for the opposition, the winning team will blame the umpires for almost losing them the game. People only see what they want to. Everyone needs to get over this obsession with biased umpires and learn that there's not some giant conspiracy against your team!

Finally someone talking about the game Jesus!! Want to enjoy reading threads about the game not hear useless whining from both sides.

The interesting one for me is Sam Mitchell. He has never stood up in a GF. In 08 he was well held by Lingy and had virtually no influence. 2012 he gathered something like 25 disposals but was contained and resoundly beat by O'keefe who had one of the games of his life. Creepy Crowley'd last year, but who will stop Sammy if he turns it on Saturday at the G? If Cunningham goes to him that releases Hill which could be disastrous for swans. He could be a huge factor in deciding the outcome IMO.
