Pretty sure Conlon is training with the Northern Blues.

That what I be thinking. He stay in TAC Cup as a overeager because of Injury and If he is good as people say he can play in the u-18 Champs

Northern Blues are Carlton's VFL side. Not an U18 side.

Well that is interesting. I thought he would want to play for Pies as we where interested in him Pre-Draft and he is a Pie Fan.

So he goes play with the Scum. I am guessing it between the Northern Scum and Northern Knights

The two teams are aligned I think.... seem to remember a lot of kids from the Knights that did not get drafted ending up at the Bullants before they became Carlton reserves.

Every chance he may still be an overager for the Knights but play some games and train with the Blues, similar to what Langdon did at Sandringham this year.

Yeah TAC Cup and VFL clubs have alignments. As a stand-alone club you miss out on that. Calder>Coburg, Northern>Northern, Oakleigh>Port, Geelong>Werribee etc.

Yeah that what I was thinking because of the Alignment that those 2 clubs have. Bit like what we have with the Bushrangers. Though we seem to get Kids from Sandy Dragons each year that I can remember

I remember Reading that Us and Geelong are Aligned with the Murray Bushrangers as we have had some Bushie player play for us like:

  • Jamie Elliot
  • Jonathon Celgar
  • Nick Holman
  • Josh Mellington
and some others that I can't Remember

That's a different thing.

When kids 'graduate' from TAC Cup they are encouraged to go to their aligned club. If Collingwood pinched Conlon they would have to pay a fee (~ $3000) to Northern Blues (plus the normal transfer fee of $10k which I think the Blues don't have to pay). A non-aligned club can also sign I think 3 TAC players in total, whereas the 'real' clubs can sign as many as they like.

The one you are talking about is for top-up players to play as the 23rd man during the season. You put in a request for a top-up player from the TAC Cup and Murray will send you one if they think there is a guy who is ready and they can spare.

Well I have noticed us get a lot of our Kids from TAC Cup from Sandringham. So do we pay a fee for that?

Yes and no. Some of them are a year of more out of TAC Cup and so actually qualify as VAFA players. Those guys are free. For kids directly out of TAC Cup there should be a fee. I suspect the couple of Sandy kids are probably linked to Dale Tapping's contacts as an ex-Sandringham coach.

Bump.

Ned McKeown, the son of former Magpie Ron, is training with Collingwood's VFL squad. Played with the Northern Knights in 2013.

Poor Ron McKeown played all season at fullback only to be swapped for Michael Christian in the GF. Poor bugger. Christian came in to play on Salmon. Did a fair job on him.

He was unlucky, got injured a few weeks out and fitness was probably a deciding factor, dropped BT too

Don't know many premiership teams that dropped their fullback and full forward for a Grand Final and won o_O

He will stay on with the Northern Knights this year as an overage player. Saying that out of the 5 overage players they can have on there list only a maximum of three are allowed to play each week so he will go up and play in the VFL in the weeks he is not selected for the knights
