Preview 2014 Draft Our First Pick - Who Do We Take?

Well we're 3 weeks away from the end of the season and the group of players that is likely to be around at our first pick is becoming clearer and I thought I'd take the opportunity to collect information about these kids and give posters a chance to read up about them. At the moment I've only had a chance to collect the names that seem to be around the mark for our pick and there is a fair group of them given the even nature of the draft.

Over the next few weeks I'll try and add more information about the players in this post and if there is enough interest find info about players that might jump up as the season comes to and end and the kids get to go to the Combine.

With that in mind here is the initial list of those I believe that we'll have to pick from.

I'd like to thank the guys at Bound For Glory for their write ups on the kids that are provided here. At the moment they don't have a write up on Jarrod Pickett and I'm not sure if they'll get to him, but if they do I'll add it here. I'll also be going through and adding the write ups from the likes of Chris25 & Knightmare if they don't mind. Where possible I'll also be adding their stats for the champs as well as the TAC Cup, SANFL , WAFL or NEAFL if I can find them.

I doubt we can get Durdin, but he'd be my first pick.
Would love Jarrod Pickett as we lack his type badly. X-Factor in spades!
Would settle for Goddard out of that list…..

From the smaller guys i'd be happy with any of Laverde, Ahern, Pickett or Weller

Ahern is better IMO. But I will add that I haven't seen anywhere near as much this year so don't take it as gospel.

Weller fits our mould for 1st rounders too, I think it's great he has the ability to contribute playing anywhere on the ground.

I think eventually when he puts on the size he could be a Dayne Beams type mid.

I really rate his kicking. He's all class. I think some of the worries on him are he's only 71kg but I reckon he's bigger than that already and he looks like he will fill out to a nice size.

Yeah reading the draft profile above really sounds like a richmond pick. But i really hope we take Ahern.

Ticks all the boxes with in terms of character, training and leadership as well. His leap and agility make him more than the average blue collar type.

but we have a no Dickhead policy! anyone that walks away from an AFL Club because "it's too hard" clearly has issue's considering the alternative is being in the workforce and being paid bugger all compared to an AFL player!

He's improving. He's the most talented by a long way. Least fit by an even longer way.
