Kidding surely. Why would you trade an elite mid for an unproven KPF? Crazy.

Not saying you'd do it but if you rated Boyd, who was very highly rated, then you snatch them before their stocks rise. GWS have more KPF than they need and they need some quality mids and GWS type of which Beams would fit the bill.

It's a fair call to say we're interested in Boyd but we won't be getting rid of Beams. Too good, too young, too Collingwood. He rejected offers from the Gold Coast (who also had a lot of money - and is where he grew up) to play for Collingwood. Why would he agree to a trade to GWS?

I don't think anyone outside of Beams would get the trade done though, so therefore I don't think it would happen.

I think we really need to focus our attention on GC and GWS, because there will be some quality leaving at the end of this year and some even better quality wanting a return to home. We may have to pay, a la, Shaw for Adams but over the next 3-4 years it will pay off.

Happy to leave this up to Dekka and his team.

I'm hearing you but no way would you trade a 23 year old elite midfielder who can kick goals like Beams does. Our only hope would be trading Reid and someone else for Boyd.

He might never have had a go there at ground zero and would have an option to play there for big money now. That said, he's a great player in the competition so even were it entertained it would be a big move.

Absolutely. There's an abundance of 1st round picks floating around GC/GWS that aren't or won't play senior footy for various reasons. Clearly talented so we need to target some of these types and get them into our system on the cheap.

I'd love to get my hands on Jesse Lonergan. Apparently the rate him ridiculously high though.

Haha perfect gents. I didn't make this thread to serve the purpose of a wish list, but for anyone out there who hears anything, let the BF family know!

Yes, but everyone, let's just keep this amongst ourselves ... we don't want this stuff to leak out, OK? ;)

There is a strongish rumour around that we are interested in Dylan Shiel from GWS.
But I also heard he was contracted for next year....so it could be crap

Being contracted doesn't mean anything (see Chris Dawes, Heath Shaw)

I reckon the Beams rumour would only be true if he genuinely wanted out. And if that's the case then it is probably collatoral damage from the Shaw trade.

In the next season or two we're losing Ball and Swan out of the midfield. And to lose Beams as well?? Who's going to replace them all?

The options are young, speculative or yet to play a game of footy.

Beams for Boyd...
I hope our recruiters would laugh in their face. I don't want to trade an AA quality midfielder for an unproven young player like Boyd. Most no. 1 picks don't end up as good as Beams is currently. + Beams rejected much bigger $$$ to play for Collingwood, so I hope we wouldn't get rid of him like that.

Well I agree Beams would not want to go.

As 76woodenspooner said the only way this Trade even happens or get talked about is that Beams wants out and IF beams want out then Boyd is very good composition for him.

Our Forward Line would look good with Cloke,Boyd and Moore up there. Though I doubt it would happen

If there is any truth to the beams rumour Pies would it would prefer Cameron over Boyd- although Boyd did train with the pies in his draft year

I raised a few weeks back and got laughed at, I raised the Beams trade because of a former Pies employee who I know well mentioned it to me.. Very influential person at the time...

Pies in no hurry to sign and are very keen on either of the big 3 from GWS, Boyd trained at Collingwood for a while before the trade as well. I also note Pies do want to hold on to Beams.

On another note most likely see the end of 1 or 2 of, Lumumba, Goldsack, Macaffer, & Blair. Pies will be somewhat aggressive in this years trades.

I'm happy to hear that we will be aggressive but I think we will need to offer up better quality than those guys if we are to land a big fish. All four together in one deal would not land a player like Boyd for example.

What are the thoughts on Jack Riewoldt? Another article in the HUN today on a move of clubs would be the best thing for him as he seems to be at a bit of a crossroads, speculation of a trade appears to be gaining momentum. Any value to the Pies, could he fit in or would the cost be too high?
Jack would be a great second forward for us but no way he will leave Richmond

Interesting names their LS. I would have thought Bucks would like to hang onto Caff and Goldy.

Throwing it out as a possible deal, JT + our 3rd pick (40's) for Lions 2nd rounder (20's). I like JT but see him going down the pecking order as BK and Freeman get more midfield time, possibly even Kyle Martin also, and I see JT as depth only. Yep, Swanny will be gone in 3 years and so will Bally but we'll pick up another mid in the draft, who hopefully in 3 yeRs time can have an impact.

What's your take/clubs take on JT?

Goldy is an UFA and can go on his own accord if he likes. H is the one that I feel we may be able to get something handy for- perhaps an early 2nd round prick. He will be an UFA at the end of next year. Not sure what value there is in the other two. I'd say the above would need to be packaged up

I don't know about that, in more ways than one!
Was probably being a little optimistic. Would probably need to be packaged with a something else, but I'd be looking at the young teams who need some physical strength and leadership around them to help the, in certain areas. May get three years out of him which is enough to bridge the development of someone to take over for him. Richo may find a need for him at the Saints- rekindling one of his rookie protégés. They have an injury riddled back line as it is- fisher, gwilt and the other blond guy who couldn't kick in the GF. They'd all be near retirement and need some replacing.

In saying that, although still developing, I think Keeffe has trade value. Saints, dogs, lions, Gws all screaming for a tall defender.

I'm a fan of Keeffe, I hope he stays and finds the sort of consistency we're looking for. With Brown having injury problems, Reid the same/needed up forward, and Maxwell getting close to the end, I wouldn't want to see Keeffe up for trade.

BTW I was just having a bit of fun because you said "prick" instead of pick.

I like Keeffe too.

Haha.... Didn't even notice the "Prick"
