This does not bode well for a game in Brisbane? What are the chances of Hawthorn playing Brisbane twice? I'm going to loose my **** if there isn't a Gabba game!

We might be allocated you guys in our "sixes" allocation. Just have to wait and see.

And I know a fair few people (who are Lions fans) who will lose their shit if we don't have a home game against you.

Also if we do play you twice, it should be at the 'Gabba and MCG, no games at Aurora.

Might as well leave it at Aurora, you'll be the Tasmania Hawks soon enough.

It's on your jumper more times than Hawthorn is...

Technically not true, the current Hawks jumper with adidas has the Hawthorn theme song at the bottom, so they have Hawthorn more times than Tasmania.

Fixture will be based on positions after the finals and released Oct 31

CARLTON'S unlikely finals victory over Richmond has handed it a challenging fixture for 2014.
A September berth seemed out of the question until Essendon was sensationally booted from this year’s finals.
But the resultant finals win means Carlton now play four of last year’s top eight sides a second time.
The Blues are believed to have been fixtured return clashes against heavyweights Collingwood, Geelong and Essendon, who finished top eight but were relegated to ninth.

The top-six finish under a new AFL finals formula automatically qualifies Carlton for a tougher fixture, with more double encounters against fellow top-six sides.

Newspaper speculation, not AFL confirmation. I take anything I read from the Murdoch rags with a grain of salt.

I think they will do it on H&A this season and change it to whatever suits them every year.

The matches that have been proposed for Round 1 are:

GWS Vs. Sydney likely at Skoda Stadium on Saturday of the first week of Round 1
Gold Coast Vs. Richmond at Metricon Stadium likely on Saturday of the first week
Carlton Vs. Port Adelaide at Etihad Stadium on Sunday of the first week
Geelong Vs. Adelaide at Simonds Stadium on Thursday night of the second week
North Melbourne Vs. Essendon at Etihad Stadium on Friday night of the second week
Hawthorn Vs. Brisbane Lions at Aurora Stadium likely on Saturday in the twilight of the second week

The six club who still need to be allocated games are:

Collingwood
Fremantle
Melbourne
St Kilda
West Coast
Western Bulldogs

We still need an opening match of the season for Friday, March 14. Of the six sides left, Fremantle and Collingwood at Patersons Stadium would be the best game to kick off the season. So, Round 1 could look something like this:

Friday, March 14
Fremantle Vs. Collingwood (Patersons Stadium) 7.50PM

Saturday, March 15
GWS Vs. Sydney (Skoda Stadium) 4.40PM
Gold Coast Vs. Richmond (Metricon Stadium) 7.40PM

Sunday, March 16
Carlton Vs. Port Adelaide (Etihad Stadium) 4.40PM

Thursday, March 20
Geelong Vs. Adelaide (Simonds Stadium) 7.40PM

Friday, March 21
North Melbourne Vs. Essendon (Etihad Stadium) 7.50PM

Saturday, March 22
Hawthorn Vs. Brisbane Lions (Aurora Stadium) 4.40PM
Western Bulldogs Vs. West Coast (Etihad Stadium) 7.40PM

Sunday, March 23
St Kilda Vs. Melbourne (Etihad Stadium) 4.40PM

Swans recruit Lance Franklin could therefore start his career in the red and white at the Giants' home ground of Skoda Stadium.
And, most likely, kick 14 goals to kick start his career at the Swans

Still newspaper speculation I know but The Age have the sixes being set after the finals as well.

All these leaks are probably coming from the draft fixture clubs have seen or been notified about, so you'd think it would be a bigger story if the AFL were already breaking their new rules. At the very least it would take precedence in the article above 'Hawthorn to play Brisbane in Round 1 shock!'.

Simon Garlick said a function today Coll v WB on the Sunday twilight slot in the first round at Ethiad.

Travelling to Perth is a stock standard part of playing in the AFL. Someone has to, and if your team is fit enough and organised enough it shouldn't be a problem. Someone gotta do it every week.

Happy to but we went over twice last year

Prefer to not in Round 1

God forbid, you have to play away games OUTSIDE Victoria! One of those trips to Perth was even leading
into the damn BYE.
Perhaps the VFL would be better for you? You could drive to all matches.

I'm guessing this isn't the one promoting disabilities since it is a Coll home game and not FTA if on Twilight. So we play them twice perhaps? Didn't take long for AFL to put us on Sunday Twilight though.

What on earth are you on about? North vs Dons 2nd week of round 1 they say. Usually with these predictions, they are right. And Cats wont be playing 2 home games at simmonds stadium to open the season. Don't be silly.
