Rd12

--------------------------------------------------------

That's all I've got so far. Are we going to get Geelong v Hawthorn on Easter Monday again?

Isn't North vs Essendon going to happen round 1 as well?

Added a few. Just the ones I'd consider unconfirmed - ie the AFL hasn't specifically announced them.

Probably going to be 3 or 4 games at Etihad spread over the two weeks. North v Essendon, Carlton v Port. Can see a St Kilda v Melbourne or something too. With both Adelaide sides having to travel due to Adelaide Oval out til Rd2 plus the MCG out as well, it means that Etihad will see a lot of use. Based on what we already know, there could be two games in Queensland based on that.

St Kilda v Melbourne
Brisbane v Adelaide
Geelong v Fremantle
West Coast v Collingwood
Western Bulldogs v Hawthorn

Last five are an example. Other option is to send the Hawks to Tassie in Round 1, but surely the AFL won't do THAT...

I'd be surprised if the AFL didn't use one of Launceston or Hobart when you consider the GABBA, MCG and SCG will all be out of action for round 1. If North are scheduled to play Essendon at Ethiad, Hawthorn by virtue will likely host a club in Tasmania (probably one of Melbourne, St Kilda, W Bulldogs, Brisbane or Adelaide)

When Hawthorn won the 2008 flag, the Hawks unveiled the flag at the MCG (in round 1 against the Cats) and again in Launceston (in round 5 against the Eagles)

In 2011, Collingwood played 2 games at Docklands (including a home game against Port Adelaide) before unfurling the flag in round 3 against Carlton at the MCG.

I'd suggest we'd likely play a home game in Launceston in round 1, travel to one of Perth/Sydney in round 2 and unveil the flag in our first home game at the MCG in round 3 or even in round 5 against Geelong.

St Kilda will be playing Brisbane in Wellington and not Sydney...

Only possible match-ups I could see, based on the Jay Clark thing, would be Hawthorn v Brisbane or Hawthorn v Adelaide. Of the remaining teams;

- West Coast don't get those games as they draw pretty well in Melbourne.
- Freo won't play Hawthorn in Tassie, surely.
- Gold Coast based on Caro.
- Port based on Caro.
- Sydney & GWS based on the NSW Derby.
- Melbourne sides? Doubtful.

We're contracted to play two games against Victorian/quasi Victorian teams down there though...

St Kilda pull a fantastic crowd in Launceston but given that you'd think the Ethiad tenant clubs would all host a round 1 game (W Bulldogs, Nth Melbourne, Carlton/Essendon and St Kilda) it wouldn't surprise me if we played the Dees down there...

You can probably add two Hawthorn V Sydney games (one in Melbourne, one in Sydney and both probably on Friday Nights)

Hawthorn could stop playing at tassie and get Carlton and Essendon at the g and their crowds would still be shit

IMO their crowds are average for such a recently successful club

Yes our crowds our terrible... there is no hope for us

Really good of the AFL not to schedule more Richmond v Collingwood or Richmond v Carlton matches than is necessary for 2014, Richmond making the finals is always a one off (see 1974-2013 as evidence there) so we'll probably see Richmond v Collingwood draw a crowd more like their 2012 effort which was Collingwoods second lowest MCG crowd of the year I think

If the AFL are really smart, they'll fill Richmonds first 8 weeks with games against Carlton, Collingwood and Essendon and throw in St Kilda, Melbourne and GWS so it takes a few weeks before tigers fans stop going to games again

Don't be responsible for derailing yet another thread...

Either let it go or stop whinging about him saying things...

WAAAHHHH He said something!

I sincerely hope Melbourne get a better deal from this year's fixture. Their draw last year, in terms of double ups games, time slots and who they had home games against, was appalling for their bottom line.

AFL.com.au understands the Cats will open their 2014 home and away campaign on a Thursday night in the second week of round one. It is believed their opponent will be Adelaide.
It is believed there will be four games across the first weekend and five in the second, with the Cats-Crows clash to kick things off in week two on March 20.

The following night, North Melbourne is tipped to host Essendon at Etihad Stadium.

Gold Coast is expected to kick off its season at home in the first week against Richmond.

Greater Western Sydney has requested to play the Sydney Swans in the first instalment of the 'Battle of the Bridge' for 2014.

Swans recruit Lance Franklin could therefore start his career in the red and white at the Giants' home ground of Skoda Stadium.

The fixture remains in draft form and is subject to change up until its official launch on October 31.

The AFL won't comment before then.

Only one game in Melbourne round 1.

Think there'll be a couple. Rumours of North-Essendon and Carlton-Port. Still need games sorted for Hawthorn, St Kilda, the Dogs, Melbourne, Collingwood, Brisbane, Freo and West Coast.

Excellent, I was hoping we'd get another crack at Hawthorn at the MCG instead of Launceston.

I wonder if the Hawks will be sent to play Brisbane at the Gabba later in the year?

They haven't played them there since 2008. Seems a bit, well, not right.

Bloody hope so. Bizarrely we traveled to the GABBA almost religiously from 1992 to 2008 which makes it even stranger why we haven't travelled back. The last game we played at the GABBA incidentally involved a shootout between Franklin and Bradshaw...it was that long ago!

So far the following has been made public of Geelong's fixture:

-Richmond once, considering they only face Sydney twice from the top 8 sides.

-Only one afternoon game at Simonds Stadium, and 8 matches there in total.

-First game against Adelaide on Thursday night during the second week of Round 1, most likely at Simonds Stadium you'd think with Adelaide Oval still out of action.

-Carlton twice, with one of those matches purportedly on Friday night at Simonds (according to Dwayne Russell). Will be the first time they have travelled to Geelong since 1996.

-Hawthorn twice (was mentioned today by Caro), of which I'd assume our first meeting will be on Easter Monday. Leaves us to play only one of Freo/Sydney twice.
