Is Fyfe waiting for a 10 year offer?

Was standing next to Chips Frawley in Subway the other day and he is a big lad.

Frawley as a FA makes sense - especially if lake retires.

It's the gaping hole in our midfield that's the more pressing issue. A midfield of Langford, hallahan, Woodward, shiels, Anderson is mid table at best - look how much we've struggled with Mitch and rioli out.
In hindsight it looks like we may have paid too much for mcevoy when picks should have been invested on mids.
Wrighty has his work cut out this year as we have limited trade bait due to our aging list and to keep plugging ST holes excerbates our list issues. I reckon grimley, lowden, litherland, Kelly, hallahan, Sewell, suckling will all be in the table - but I can't see GWS wouldn't be interested in any if them- they'll want picks. O'rouke would be a start but we prob need 1-2 more classy mids as a minimmum. Jaktsch, along with brand and heatherly would mean our kpd stocks would look quite healthly.

Add Tom Mitchell to the list of Mids!;)

It's still too early to judge the McEvoy trade, he has been injured most of the year and hasn't had a good run at it yet.

But, with the progression of Ceglar it does look to be the wrong decision.

Dunstan looks a future star and there are a number of players around pick 19 that would have been handy like Impey, Crouch, Taylor and Merrett. Drafting is of course easy in hindsight but I am sure we could have snagged a couple of decent players with these picks.

The problem has been compounded with Garlett no working out. I can understand the clubs decision to not invest heavily in future mids via the draft when we are pushing for a premiership now.

Tyhawk, you are the second person to post confidently that this is a serious chance, what info is this based on?

Just curious if it has legs - thanks.
Have you been paying any attention to his progress? It's pretty simple to see where the speculation is coming from with Mitchell...

I grasp that he is killing it in the reserves and not getting a game, my point is two separate posters have insinuated we are a really good chance to land him.
One commented that a media friend had stated if we made no fuss about Buddy signing with Sydney they would trade Mitchell to us this offseason.
I'm not asking about a Bigfooty let's trade Jordan Kelly and a 2nd rounder to GC for Gary Ablett Jnr illogical scenario...
I'm asking why are two posters so sure that this is realistic and even likely.

This makes no sense to me

Swans could have offered Buddy 7 or 8 years and he would have taken it you'd think, the 9 years was to blow us out of the water

Why need to if we were going to accept Tom Mitchell in a side deal

You're right, it doesn't sound logical does it. The only thing I can think of is that they had to spread his payments over a longer period of time anyway as even more players would have to have been shed.

Who knows?

I'd like to think that some deal was done as this is my biggest bug bear with him leaving. We got nothing, for a pretty bloody good player........

Tom Mitchell from Sydney
Dad is returning to Victoria
Looking to get traded at years end back to Vic
Hawks told if no fuss was made over the Buddy deal.................;)
I raised this as it been mentioned twice so there may be some substance to it... Queue Essendon gags.
Steven Tyler mentioned it and elaborated that it came from a media friend.
Tyhawk made similar comments.
To these two guys, thanks for the info, how likely is this and what chance are we to land this.
The irony meter would also be off the charts after the Joey Kennedy trade.

I think you can consider this the BF posters' wish list.
Some of the FA conjecture may have some credibility (eg Frawley, Mundy et al). However, any potential trade targets will probably come out of left field during trade week and will almost certainly not include the high profile players like Fyfe and Dangerfield.
Still these hypotheticals do pass the time don't they?

Assuming the Tom Mitchell thing is actually true. We're still going to have to trade something for him, correct? And it will have to be something decent as the AFL have form in shutting down trades that aren't "fair" on face value. Our 4th round pick won't be considered fair by the AFL for a young player who has shown himself capable at AFL level and completely dominate in the NEAFL.

If there's been a deal like this put in place as of last year then I would think that would be entering draft/salary cap tampering waters anyway.

As if Sydney would ever help us out in any situation whatsoever. C'mon, seriously guys...they are a pack of cunning runts.

If we want Mitchell, they will actually want well overs

It was mentioned to me that Mitchell is considering his future at Sydney due to his family returning home, and this has been the case since late last year
My media mate mentioned he has heard "off the cuff" remarks involving an "understanding" Sydney would look closely at what we could offer IF we were interested in him
We have to do a trade if he were to leave
Not for a second did I mean to imply he was a certainty to be a Hawk next year

I want a swans player at the hawks for no other reason than for him to trot out the line "it's amazing the culture they have at the hawks. it's great to be involved in a club with such a strong culture" etc etc - a backhanded pisstake of the swans bloods nonsense.
