TICKETS to Port Adelaide’s Saturday night blockbuster against Hawthorn in Round 10 went on sale at 9am this morning and already reserved seats have almost sold out.

Demand for tickets has been incredibly high and the club is encouraging supporters to secure a pre-sale ticket or risk missing out. General admission tickets are still available but are also expected to sell out well in advance of the game..
Crazy awesome. How fantastic are these feels?

Makes me shudder to think this was our strategy to make a better atmosphere at home games just four years ago:

As Robbo said on AFL 360 - "Even if they're not your team, Port Adelaide plays the way you want your team to play." Why wouldn't you want to see that at the best stadium for AFL in Australia?

Keep playing attractive football, and crowds won't be a problem, but a positive.

Hi Port fans

I'm in a group of 4 hawks fans coming over for the Port-Hawthorn game. Tix went on sale today and I can only get 4 GA tix together. Is there any chance I will be able to get seats? At the moment I can only get 2 together.

Thanks!

I'd suggest you try the Tingles BF board. About 10K Port memberships are actually tingles members that purchased Port memberships to guarantee that they'd get into the 1st showdown. You'd probably be able to find quite a few tickets through those guys. Maybe start with Alex. He's normally on_fire with these things.

*****Please note Jamie, tongue firmly in cheek

Is it wrong that I get pissed off by the big crowd! Rq

Have to queue for everything now! Just not used to it :).

The grumpy bastard in me has a whinge.
Do what I do. Go to Coles and have something to eat just before the march and buy a 2-litre iced coffee to drink at the game. Only thig you have to queue for then is the toilet, and the queues at the AO toilets are much shorter than at AAMI.

I hate queuing to get in and to use the toilet. I don't BUY anything there, they'd have to pay me to eat that shit.

Of course when Port plays the Saints in the rain there will be only 23000 but as long as Port can sell out 4-5 big games a year, forget about anymore tin rattling or board members hitting up past Premiership players for donations.
I'm not so sure about that. Our style of play at Adelaide Oval is just so exciting - I for one wouldn't care if it's as cold as a mother in law's kiss, and bucketing down: while we're playing this well, I'll be there. Plus there's still the novelty factor of our new home ground: it's just a brilliant atmosphere that leaves AAMI Stadium for dead.

I agree.

I was sceptical at first about how much difference the move to Adelaide Oval would make to the crowds but, having had the privilege of coming over for the showdown, the venue is just so amazing that people are going to want to go just to experience the surroundings and the atmosphere.

In the US, it is said that one of the great spectator sporting experiences is to go to Wrigley Field or Fenway Park for a Cubs or Red Sox MLB game.

Having been to Wrigley, I can attest to this. They pack out almost every game even though the Cubs have been losers for over 100 years. The experience of sitting there, taking in the awesomeness of the history, the architecture and the surrounding area makes it something more than just a sporting event and somehow transcends the general mediocrity of the on field product.

I think Adelaide Oval has a chance to make a similar kind of impact on people and the fortunate confluence of events puts Port in the ideal position to benefit, since we now also have a sensational on field product and look set to do so for the foreseeable future.

I think a Port AFL game at Adelaide Oval has the chance to become an iconic Australian spectator sporting experience - it can become our equivalent of the Wrigley Field or Fenway Park experience.

All that says is that amazingly we've gone from a club that couldn't get people to games, to a club with an almost sold out stadium before tickets are even on sale. Awesome!

I piss farted around with the Freo game whether I should get reserved seats or go in GA with my Country ticket. By the time I got around to it (just after the Geelong game), the only option I had was GA anyway.
Disappointing for me, awesome for the club!

From Tuesday's membership story

"Our next three games are against last year's grand finalist Fremantle and Hawthorn, and then a great Saturday twilight game against Alan Richardson's Saints," he said.

"We expect over 50,000 to attend the Hawthorn night blockbuster - it will be a massive game for our people - and then there's plenty of other big night games against Essendon, Sydney and a Friday night match against Carlton.

Seriously hard to fathom. Game is a month away!

Nah, given what we did against Geelong and Hawks supporters travel in bigger numbers than Geelong and more live in SA than Geelong supporters, its no surprise.

If we sell out against Freo, then that will truly be remarkable. There will probably be 400 Freo supporters all up, given past history.

Oh i mean from where we were last year :)

Prior to the Geelong game I agree. After that I'm surprised there weren't finals like queues or the electronic equivalents. Might have to move it to the MCG to meet demand (stirring for God's sake!).
