The mistake may have been mine ... TheFreshBanana do you remember those things being said?
He said he got a push like Chris Judd - clearly incorrect and may be a simple mistake.
Either that or he's covering his ass, (which we've all done) as I reckon he's copped a bit of heat from inside & outside the club.
Maybe the point about the bikes was just to placate, (shut up) the guy who was on his high horse:rolleyes: about the whole bike thing.

Every year we play 2 of our home games at Etihad.
I guess it's a trade off, as we also get to have 4 or 5 away games at the MCG (from Carlton, Essendon, Hawks, Geelong, Richmond, Melbourne).
So we have 13-14 at MCG, 4 at Etihad & 4-5 interstate.
Can't really complain about that.
I'm still p?ssed about not playing our opener at the G.

I have to listen to a lot of crap in the West so my argument was more aimed at these type of interstate teams. Even though they travel I feel they have a huge advantage playing 11-12 games at a Cauldron with a one sided crowd. Win most of those and you're playing finals. Most sports around the globe I would have thought are played at some intimidating stadiums but that is normally balanced out by playing each other twice. I don't know what the answer is but maybe a two tiered system is needed. Imagine how much joy we would get when the scum are bottom of a div 2.

I think Davoren was saying that it was a case of running at full pace and then attempting to kick the ball, in which it's such an unnatural movement that it caused injury.

I think he mentioned fatigue in Marsh's case (I specifically remember him saying it occurred in the last 10 minutes), which he might have said the word similar in reference to the running at full pace and kicking.

Either way, I think it's irrelevant.

He didn't provide an answer as to why the hamstrings occurred, but I think people are reading too much into it.

That's why the night was held though, to provide members with an honest answer to their questions. If he's busy trying to deflect the question or provide 'non-answers' then he's clearly trying to cover up his tracks (or he legitimately doesn't know which is as big a concern). 'Course without being there myself it's a bit hard to judge but y'know... Just seems bizarre that he wouldn't use an opportunity like this to gain some faith with the supporters, considering that's what his colleagues were doing.

You have a point, but I do not share the same opinion as other people that we are privy to information on the club inside and out.

I also believe it's a bit fanciful to think that they've figured out the problem (although a few comments in the paper have me puzzled).

Personally, they don't have to tell me the reason, nor do they have to know the reason right now. All I need is the trust that they're gonna get it ****ing right.

That's blowing it up into something it's not.

The members who were present generally thought the club were open and honest and did a commendable job.

In general I completely agree. I just think when you hold a night like this, saying you're going to put yourself on the line, if you turn up you have to be prepared to do so. It sounded to me like all the others did so admirably too, but then Davoren was the elephant in the room all along.

EDIT: re:76, I'm just talking pure speculation (I won't deny that) based on the feedback provided, and only discussing Davoren.

Do you have poll results to back up your assertion that the members were happy at the end?
Because without hard evidence you simply come across as an apologist.

At the top, where there is, you know, a poll.

I thought it was a successful event. The right people spoke about the right things and were honest. Everybody who wanted to speak got to have their go and questions were answered with professionalism and respect for the audience. Every time I was about to leave at a "not so good" question there was generally a good one to back it up. Wonderful commitment of time by the club leaders to do this so close to the close of the season. I didn't leave with all my worries washed away, but that was never the point. I could see the club were working hard and wer prepared to explain their decisions.

The travel factor does even up the advantage but don't underestimate the home crowds or ground advantages . Also the AFL, fixture teams like the Shockers & Weagles to have a few games in a row at home. Especially towards the end of the season. Yes we get to play at the MCG but it's normally against the Bombers, Scum, Geelong, Hawks, Richmond, Melb?, North & Bullies. What home advantage do we get there. Crowds are also 70/30 at worst so atleast there is some voice from both supporter groups creating atmosphere. I absolutely hate going to Subiaco. If the Shockers or Weagles are winning then all is good with the supporters = no noise. If the away team is winning then a couple of thousand opposition supporters scattered like pepper throughout the stadium isn't enough to create a combined voice and put additional pressure on both the home team and white maggots like the last time we played the Weagles and Ump Schitt gave 49 frees to the Weagles in the 1st 20min.

I also forgot. What about our 1st game this year against the Shockers. Played at Etihad. WTF. Thats not our home ground. What advantage did we get there for our opener. Absolute bulls?t and Eddie needs to speak up about this crap. The AFL is driven by money so until the comp is even with all teams playing each other twice Home & Away we need Ed to negotiate a better deal.
We get the same crowd advantage as them and get screwed (supposedly) by the umpires no matter where the games are held.
Basically nothing comes close to the burden of traveling every second week.

The G" wasn't available for AFL in round 1.

That poll is for BF posters.
I'm asking for the moderators exit poll.
The one he should have taken to be able to make the assertions he has about the attendees.

If you were there and had a different opinion about the crowd ... I'm not going to argue with you.

It's called the bar.

I am so glad the club has listened to the informed membership:

Just posted: in 2015 we will be releasing a soft pr0n calendar featuring our 12 most injured players, this will be done to raise funds for their pensions since we've also just delisted them.

I thought Ben Reid got three of those months all to himself :p

I wrote this in a nutshell about the night for those who were unable to attend.

Unfortunately I'm 300kms away. So Monday night is out of the question.
This is why I wanted a Q & A style forum, open to those of us who could not be there in person on the night.
It's good that you are happy to now admit it was nothing more than an opinion and not hard facts.

The people who are on bigfooty and went, have answered the poll.

What more do you want?

More than 13 of the 500 people to be sampled.
The assertion was made, as if it were fact, that the attendees were more than happy with the outcome.
Plainly, it was not able to be backed by facts. (Or even manipulated stats!)
A simple request for hard evidence.

I totally agree that it should have been a Q&A style forum.

I did write to the club and used very similar words to the ones you just used in response to the club's original email (like you, referring specifically to the ABC's Q&A program)

I am an interstate member myself and am hugely fortunate that it was not difficult for me to jump on a plane to attend Monday's forum.

Look, I get that Collingwood's postcode is 3066. But we market ourselves with pride as being "The Biggest Club in Australia".

And to borrow a phrase Eddie used on Monday night "It shits me to tears" ... that in the year 2014 with technology being what it is, an interstate member is expected to jump on a plane to get answers about how their footy team is going.

If we see ourselves as a national brand we really should start behaving like one.
