15 year old Brad Scheer making his debut today for PBC as their youngest ever player should be interesting to see how he goes, very talented and has really impressed creswell over the pre season

Was a member of the Qld 15's State team last year - agree, very good footballer, good size, good skills, makes good decisions. Bad mullet...

Similar story in the Geelong and Bellarine comps where I spend a bit of time. Last Easter there was a combined total of about 8000 spectators watching a Torquay then a Geelong VFL match. The Geelong blokes reckon their local comp is as strong as O & M. The point is that the entire local community is behind the local comp which is not the case in suburban Brisbane. As Ruffles says, a lot of people dont know and dont care about the local AFL club, often because they follow league or maybe union. Pity, but that's the way it is up here. BTW, Ty Zantuck signed with Torquay this year- some might remember him playing for Zillmere post-AFL a few years ago.

Played for a few sides Brereton - not necessarily the sort of guy you want around your club btw despite being a damn good footballer.

Watched my Broady vs Mt Gravatt today in the rain creating slippery conditions. Despite these conditions the standard for a first round match was ok in patches but very scrappy otherwise. MT Gravatt did well..much more competitive then their practice match results indicated.

I posted the other day about, Albury, Yarrawonga, games etc. Well Saturdays blockbuster turned into a tradegy, when 10 minutes into the 2nd qrt a young Albury player was involved in a sickening ( accidental) collision which has resulted in him being placed into a induced coma and flown to Melbourne hospital. It looks like severe spinal cord damage ( alais the Newcastle knight player last week.) The game was abandoned , resulting in a draw under league rules.More importantly, lets hope this young player is ok,,,, but from all reports its not looking good....

I had a look at Wilston Grange and Western Magpies on Saturday night, wasn't a bad game, good crowd I thought. The Gorillas will certainly be up there with Morningside, PBC and Labrador. And on Sunday had a look at Morningside v Labrador, petty about the weather, but as everyone suggested the panthers are the team to beat. Tigers were impressive at times but just couldn't close the 4-5 goal gap.

Maggies also played young Aaron Asiah (not sure on spelling) 16 year old and he went well, good on PBC playing local talent

Were the paddlepop lion jerseys that UQ wore on the weekend their jerseys for the entire year? I thought their usual jerseys were great.

Having been an a former RL, I was wondering the same thing. I asked one of the lads and they said the guernseys hadn't arrived yet

Popped down and watched Magpies/Hawks. Hawks looked a million bucks in the first quarter but went to sleep after that and Magpies ran all over them in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Was pretty even in the last but the game was well over by then. Some decent skills on show at times for both teams. Haven't stepped on to that Sherwood ground since the early 90's - doesn't look like its been resurfaced since then.

Watched my Broady get belted today by the Panthers. Was to be expected with our side fielding only 2 or 3 players from last season. Going to be a tough year for us,,, don't think we will make the finals at all.Morningside, Labrador, the ones to beat. Palm Beach and Grange should be up there.

its sad to see the difference at Broady this season compared to the past 3 or 4 seasons...... eg, the loss of so many players, the flat attitude around the club, even the loss of volunteer workers has hurt us big time.Anyway, that's hows it is.... We need to move forward as best we can.

Watched Southport vs Aspley today,,,, with Southport in control really, most of the day. Broady players in Brewer, Wells, Mckenzie, Burton, Geary and Shreeve all performed very well. in addition, Brennan was called to the Suns game and Weller on rep duties. Also coach Angus and fitness guru coach have Southport purring. Because of all these losses, we (broady) are not purring. But in no way can one begrudge these guys for wanting to participate at the highest level they can.Good luck to them, and Broady must get into what now is the status quo.

Will Broadbeach expect any of the Southport players back? With Brewer at Southport, will Brennan be with the Suns the entire year and not back with Broadbeach?

Maybe he should be playing with the Qld Scorpions in the next game - I note Beth's comments on the AFLQ website which I find rather patronising????? To be beaten by 10 goals by a TAC Cup side shows us how low the standard of junior footy is off here in QLD, if it can be gauged, it looks like it has got a little worse since the GC-17 side competed in the TAC Cup 4 or so years ago, I am sure there is a lot of talent just like Brad (I hope he gets a chance as ability beats age every time) itching to show their wares, running around in our QAFL sides who just need a chance at the Scorpion's level. We maybe throwing the babies out with the bathwater most years, as it is only the talked up kids who get a real chance only to disappoint when given their chance.

He will be playing young scorpions BB. Will definitely not play U18 rep footy this year IMO. Not sure when you thought qld teams actually knocked over TAC sides? Occasionally did so but not regularly. The chargers are one of the better TAC sides, last years 18s got rolled by over 100 pts to one TAC side from memory. Qld kids are at their best around 19-20 IMO.
