No doubt a great player.

I just feel this off season we should try to bring in 2-3 mature players 23-26yo and 2-3 high draft picks.

Obviously we will trade out 5-6 as well.

I think this year we have shown the lads are nearly on a par with the others fitness wise but just lack a couple of cool heads.

Personally if we could bring in a KPD with 80+ games, a speedy line breaking mid and possibly another small forward with dash I think we will just about be set.

I have advocated Yarran before and with Carlton leading the race for Jaksch a swap there might work (like Adams for Shaw).

Yarran would add serious dash and I believe would thrive as a leader in our environment.

Also like Colyer who I think could add some dash.

The more I look at the top part of the draft the less I'm concerned.

Initially was thinking it had to be Petracca but I reckon we might already have him in a bloke named Will Hoskin-Elliott.

If we ended up with McCartin, Wright or Brayshaw I'd be rapped and if we traded up the draft to grab a Duggan or Pickett I reckon we will have the makings of a flag contender in 3 years.

It's not like Carlton is short on people needing to step up - if he's not doing it there, is our environment really that different as another professional AFL club that he's going to be a leader up here?

Mate have you been watching him closely lately?? he's been back close to career best form. He was down last year and has made the odd error this year but I feel he could act as a connection to our forwards and could add some line breaking run.

The knock on him is consistency and body language (looks casual at times) but he should be hitting his peak years and I reckon has a lot to offer personally.

I wonder how many if any veterans we take on for next year.

Has the time passed or should we grab maybe 2

I would be a strong advocate of giving an experienced player a 1 year contract as i think this year has shown how injuries can effect young teams with how often they happen and also looking at the Suns in the last few rounds they have missed the experience and brilliance of Ablett. I would also say that in 2016 the salary cap would be a lot tighter with most of the original draftees onto a new contract.
Interesting that Addison didn't announce anything with Gilham and Hunt? I would say he will be given a role with the neafl team or junior development in the region. No announcement from Gilham and his plans post retirement in the press?

Hi Andre, I see you are close to me as in Sunbury as I am in Riddells Creek.
I agree with your thoughts on Yarran and this season but I do think it would be a gamble as he is more up and down than Adam Scott.
The idea of Jacksh and Yarran may be considered fair as both clubs would benefit for their own needs but not sure whether Carlton would do a straight swap as we over value our own players at times, this is why we are where we are.:(

Mate I can't be bothered sifting through your 800 page trade thread but I'm sure everyone here knows that those 800 pages involve Patton certain to be a dog posts and many comments about how people hope we loose every player and fold.

I guess I should be cool with that then hey
Don't want to make a big deal out of this but Pogba is right about the Patton talk on the dogs board. You might get that kind of crap on Facebook but if you actually checked out our board you'll find the Patton talk is all very tentative & speculative and at most hopeful. (Arrogance doesn't come as naturally to us as some other supporters).

On another note I've been pretty impressed by how all the speculation has been handled by your club & particularly Jon himself. Makes me wish we had the guy even more. Hope his recovery goes well as he wil no doubt be a pillar of your club.

What would you want for James Stewart?

If he wants to stay at the Giants, seeing as how Collingwood left him out in the cold when they could have had him as a father-son pick, I think Collingwood could offer their first pick, and we' would go 'Thank you, but tell Eddie that loyalty is a thing'.

No way you would get our first pick for him, personally for a player in his position I would look to come back to melbourne, just because it would be hard to see him having a decent career behind Boyd, Patton and Cameron.

You misunderstand me. If Stewart wanted to stay, then we wont trade him, even for Collingwood's pick one.
