The bit that annoys me is the force. Holman hits Breust, it was high and late, sure, but Breust gets up straight away, takes his shot on goal and doesn't even leave the ground. That's medium impact. (apparently)

Gibson takes a full swing punch into the guts of a kid, causes him to hit the deck AND leave the field of play for a period of time and that is low impact?

Piss off MRP. That's just ******ed
You have to wonder what was in the Hawthorn medical report then. Graded as medium impact so we can guess what was in the report. Pity we didnt return the favour with our medical report on Boekhorst.

In what universe is a punch to the stomach, by a 2nd time offender, a lesser crime than an errant attempt to spoil?

The message the MRP/AFL are sending is that a punch is okay, as long it is not to the head. It is no surprise there has been a number of punches to the abdomen this season when players know that for the first two offences all they will cop is a small fine.

As rightly pointed out by Dramoth, a punch to the abdomen, if it lands in the right spot, is extremely dangerous & can have catastrophic implications for the victim.

The MRP was supposed to bring greater clarity to the treatment of reportable offences. All it has done is put decision making into the hands of ex-players who have no idea of the implications of certain actions which take place on the football field.

Gave him a medical after the match they found out he actually had a bruise on his head.

Clear 2 weeks. You can't make this shit up.
Meanwhile Boekhorst was throwing up his lunch on the sidelines and struggling to breathe.

"This is the second time he has done it? Throw the book at him!! Oh, Hawks player you say? $1000."

$2500, but if you accept this instantly (like we know you are going to), we'll give you a discount of $1000 off the fine.

Gibson got fined $1500 for that ??

FMD .................. this game is losing me quicker by the week.

A punch is a punch, **** what context it is in, it is still a punch and that is illegal in our game.

Gibson's action was premeditated and he struck a player who wasn't even looking at him, that is a suspendable act.

As for young Holman, he was attempting to spoil. Yes, he clipped the Hawks player across the side of the head but what is he supposed to do, just let him mark unimpeded ??

By all means, pay a free kick but reporting the player and then handing out a suspension is a complete joke !!

We should appeal that one, is was not a suspendable act IMO.

Whilst we are at it, the club should make a formal complaint about the umpiring the other night. It is bad enough to get belted on the scoreboard but we got reamed by the dimwits the other night and I'm normally very impartial in this area.

The genuinely poor umpiring decisions coupled with them allowing Hawks players to elbow, punch & forearm our guys with no penalty or free kick whatsoever is a nothing short of a disgrace and should not be allowed to go unheeded.

Make some friggen noise Log, that's why you are the Prez !!

Sounds like we helped them out on our medical report and they threw us under the bus on theirs. Why am I not surprised.

Honestly, swap Holman for Hodge and Gibson for Yarran and you could pretty much swap the punishments dished out I reckon.

The more they try to fix it the worse it gets.

No now we have umpires being told to " find a few more free kicks" going into a round of football, as if they were traffic cops told to go out on a long weekend and go after extra speeding fines.

Why not just use the laws of the game as they are written and pay frees that are there to avoid confusion?

Holy shit... you're complaining about the umpiring... damn!

I know it comes as a surprise ............. :p

Seriously though, we are once again getting bent over and right royally screwed by the umpires and in turn the tribunal and it will continue unless we make a stand.

Hird went all ballistic on the authorities, cost him $20K yet the Bombers then got away with near murder for the next 12-months.

We need to be doing the same thing, stand-up and say "we're mad as hell and we aren't going to take it anymore".

What happens next year if these players have 2 punching offences, will the first one next year automatically result in suspension or is the slate wiped clean???
Given the way the AFL make it up as they go along there is no definitive answer to this. It may well be that the victim gets suspended for not being prepared for a punch to the abdomen.

Rpthen Campbell comes out and says yes we have a bit of an issue this week with a spike in free kicks

Carlton players deserve some criticism for not looking after one of their own - again. Side needs more mongrel in it - Lewis should have been sorted for his elbow on Holman. Gibson deserved some payback. Hawthorn have defined themselves as being snipers- and teams just cop it sweet. Coaches have a responsibility to ensure that a team protects itself and thus removes sniping as an issue when they play. If that means an ugly mess on field to draw a line in the sand - so be it.

Murphy should be in umpires faces for such incidents a Captain has a responsibility to demand fair play from umps during course of game - have never seen Murphy remonstrate with umps. Kreuzer has the size and ability to sort out a Hodge or a Lewis - where was he?

Casboult/Jones have the size to sort out a Gibson - where were they?

Sorry if I sound too old school' but sometimes a Club has to make a stand to be treated fairly - instead of moaning like a female dog after the fact...
