Looks like Jackson Trengove has broken his ankle

Which should mean that Clurey will get some games for Port

Defender $150k

He played the first game against Carlton in 2014 but has not played since.
Yeah, I'll never forget that. I started 2014 with him over Langford. Not getting him this year

Anyone know what is the job security for bubble boys Bailey Dale and Jack Leslie?
Who's Jack Leslie?

EDIT: GC KPD priced at $148k.

I would worry a bit about his job security once some of their big guys are back, but honestly I'd never heard of him so I don't really know. According to his player profile he's 198cm and 94kg and "is being groomed as another key defender to possibly play alongside Steven May and Rory Thompson."

Very unlikely to get any more games.

Dawson is back from injury now and more than likely will be playing for Peel until we rest Macca/Johnson/Ibbo or get an injury. Alex Pearce will sit behind Dawson on the pecking order now. The only reason Alex Pearce got games was because both Dawson and Silvagni were out injured.

Really appreciate your response.

Does anyone have any recommended rookie defenders who will get some game time?

The way we're playing we've got a few that would deserve to go out before Dumont. But knowing Scott, yes, he probably would. He did surprise us leaving Turner and Brown all year last year though

^ this. Dumont should have at least 5 full games under his belt this season, but Scott has his favourites and Dumont isn't one of them.

The insistence on playing Bastinac and Leigh Adams every week ahead of Dumont who was in the bests 6 or 7 weeks in a row was the bane of my existance last year

But seriously, Dumont is the exact player we need in our side right now. He can play in the guts, wins his own ball, can go forward, and more importantly, looks like he's out there to have a real crack. Plus he has a bit of campaigner about him, which you couldn't say about too many others at the moment

Jack Leslie from Gold Coast, who another poster suggested, is the only one on the bubble this week (that I could see). Priced at $148k. Other than that it's fairly slim pickings. There are a few like Mckenzie and Lever who are around $200k if you don't have them yet, but you've missed their first price rises. There are a few on the cusp of selection also. Jake Kolodjasnij (excuse the spelling) has been on the cusp for a few weeks, but Geelong have just had a few of their backs return from injury so it might be tough to fight his way into the team. A few people are suggesting Hugh Goddard could play this week too, although again he's been on the cusp for a while now. Ciaran Byrne from Carlton is another one too. He's just about to come back from injury, but apparently Mick likes him so he might get a look in before too long. If Mick is still there that is

Won't get an argument from me about anything you've said.

Agreed. We're a much better side with him on the park. Wells out doesn't help either
yah im done with wells.
coach wont play him with any niggles. hes not getting younger so couldnt expect him to have less niggles.
trade bait.
cant assume he will be playing any week. so cant factor him into best 22 imo.

To be fair an achilles/calf sounds like a fairly major niggle

yup. took ages for swallow to get over his.
gutted for the bloke is a top footballer.
all signs lead to him being a 'what might have been' player
It would surprise me to see him play on beyond this year, especially if he comes back and gets injured again. It would have been good to send him off witha flag, but that's looking increasingly unlikely

Is Leslie expected to play at least 5-6 rounds?

With the rookie options looking so bleak at the moment, what rookies are we looking to hold through the byes and potentially later in the season.. Job security would be of paramount importance in the decision, as well as consistent scoring..

Of the significant rookies, I would like to hold one of Ox/Saad, CEY for as long as possible, Clark, Mckenzie and Lever.. I think the first 4 I mentioned have rock solid JS and aren't sub risks, but can see a lot of teams moving them on.. They could run into trouble later in the season with a lack of bench cover..
