I think we will have already approached our target and offered something big just to find out if they are interested. I'd prefer Taylor Walker if I could choose a target.
Either Swann or Schawb(I can't remember who) said that they are already targeting someone for next year. I would say we have approached the managers of Hawkins, Walker, and Cameron already will big money offers on the table to gauge any interest levels.

if we pull one of those key forwards hopefully either Tex or Cameron in my case up to the mighty lions and get Rance as a free agent for the backline then i reckon we could have a real crack to make the finals in 2016

Mate if we sign Walker and Rance through free agency next year as you suggest than anything less than a top 8 spot would be inexcusable.

I think there is a strong chance that Cameron will be the highest paid player in the game at the end of next year. The amount of clubs offering him close to and over 1 million dollars a year will be ridiculous considering he will only be 22 years of age. In saying that, there are a large amount of clubs looking for a gun KPF so Taylor Walker and Tom Hawkins can also expect big pay days.

Considering we will be front loading the Beams and Christensen contracts, is there any chance we could sign 2 of the gun free agents next year?

Emma quayle article suggests we still have a huge amount of Cap space still left. We front loaded 1.4Mil this year and had a few players retire that would have been on decent coin.

The club would be taking a long term view, and will be cautious not to jeopardise what we're building by spending too heavy on getting players here.

Yep I am absolutely aware of that and there is no way the club would jeopardise what we are building simply by recruiting a couple of players but we do have the rare ability to front load quite a few contracts because we have not been spending the full cap which means we should still have a large amount of free cap space next year with an A grade free agency class coming up:thumbsu:

Staker could free up another 400k next year.

The rumors have been circulating for over 3 months now and it seems like things have finally started to take motion.

As most people know by now James Aish has already privately stated his preference to join Adelaide as his family has pleaded for him to return home if given the chance. Wont go into it but his dad is very keen to get him home. Aish has told the Crows however he will not join them unless he is given a long term deal which gives him security in the game. He also will not join the Crows unless they outbid Brisbane.

Aish has held off all contract negotiations till the end of the season however his management last week asked all 3 clubs vying for his signature to make a initial offer. Brisbane and GWS didnt make one both choosing to wait till the end of the season. More or less both clubs want to know what they are dealing with when it comes to Adelaide's resilience in signing him.

Contract offered was 4 years, 1.6 mill base payment with extra incentives thrown in that would push Aish to the second highest paid player at the club (2 mill+ overall). Crows are pretty confident they will only have to make this one offer. GWS now pretty much have to offer him 5 years at 800k a season to compete and despite dropping Polkinghorne's wages, Brisbane are unlikely to be able to top 500k a season for his services

At this stage it appears Aish to the Crows is about 90% done. The only chance Brisbane have of retaining Aish is a change of heart really.
We've also had posters come and sy catergorically we wouldn't lose patfull and that Dayne beams would stay at Collingwood and was happy there. Wouldn't read into this at all. Until aish or his manage my come out and say something then we all have 0 idea what's going on.

It's a joke post.

The longer he puts off signing the more i'm convinced his gone. Risky draft choice really which is why he slide to us.
I wouldn't get too worried just yet. He said he wants to put trade talks off until after the preseason. It could be that he feels that he's ready to smash personal bests and increase his value (we already know he can play). It's when he say he wants to put talks off until the end of the year, is when we can begin to worry. For what it's worth, I think he'll stay.

Looking at it from a glass half full approach if he keeps up his form through 2015 at least we'll get something decent back.

Considering the trade week additions and big upside in the list, he'd be a hard bloke to please if he wasn't thinking the future was bright and possibly brighter than Adelaide.

Be nice if you are right because he adds some class that's for sure, i personally think his gone and was from the start.

As TBD mentioned earlier in this thread, there was nothing stopping Pickering from throwing Aish into Beams trade mix - this is if the intention really was to pack up and leave. The fact that we refused to add Aish to any trade discussions, both Aish/Pickering didn't raise this topic at all - implies he's still making up his mind. I still believe we'll get his signature unless something dramatic happens from here on.

Honestly, Aish mainly slid due to his lack of 'elite trait's. There were a few clubs that were a bit put off due to the go home concerns. But I don't think many were. I think he'll stay.

Honestly, do contracts even mean anything when it comes to the trade table now? One way or another the players always get what they want. Personally, I think they get it too easy. Especially the younger ones. Tom Boyd for example, comes straight out and requests a trade after his first year? I feel the players picked in the first two rounds go on 3 year contracts and cannot be traded until after the second year of said contract. Kids have this sense of entitlement and the go home factor will only get worse over the coming years.

Exactly, if Aish wanted to go, he would have declared it like he did with Boyd.

Yeah I'm of the view you've just got to persist and insist they fulfil the terms of the their contracts.

For every O'Bree and even Gram (noting there was more at play) and the GH5, there have been numerous examples at our club alone of guys that just hung tough and gutsed it out i.e. Chris Johnson, Black, Power etc. that went on and became the fabric of the club, particularly once they took ownership of the club as we're seeing with the likes of Tommy Rockliff, Jack Redden and Dan Rich.

I'm pretty conflicted with Aish and my views have shifted and changed over the past few months, but I reckon with the talent we've brought in recently and the general optimism around the club etc., we've just got to back the club and players and chances are young James will also see the future the club is heading and also, like those before him that went through the similar lure of home, take ownership of the club and become his own independent man away from family and friends back in SA.

Can you guys tell me about Polkinghorne? Why'd he get delisted? Strengths/weaknesses? Wouldn't mind him on the Dogs rookie list.

Polks strengths are his overhead marking and his size for a flanker. Weaknesses are poor disposal at times, no real position and not quick enough.

Slow and poor skills aren't what the dogs are looking for. Sounds like we'd have to pass on him then.
