CARLTON is on the verge of finalising a deal to secure Liam Sumner and three of his Greater Western Sydney teammates, as Sam Kerridge also weighs up whether to join the Blues just two days out from the NAB AFL Trade deadline.

Giants speedster Sumner, Lachie Plowman, Andrew Phillips and Jed Lamb are set to reunite with list manager Stephen Silvagni at Ikon Park, possibly in a trade involving the Blues' pick 20 and 21.

Speaking to NAB AFL Trade Radio, Sumner's manager Winston Rous said the deal could be pushed through on Tuesday afternoon.

"It's absolutely still on the horizon. I think that could be something that gets done later today or even tomorrow for Liam, and maybe even for those other boys that I don't manage," Rous said.

"For Liam, it would be a fantastic opportunity. He's had four years in the system now, he was pick 10 and through various reasons – through opportunity, how strong GWS' list is and through injury – he just hasn't quite been able to put forward the best part of his career."

Sumner didn't manage a senior game in 2015 due to wrist and ankle issues and the 177cm Sandringham Dragons product has been limited to just 12 games for GWS.

"(He's) a player with exceptional speed. He'll be able to play that forward pressure role but also be able to move up to the wing and maybe even pinch-hit through the (midfield) at different points," Rous said.

"He can run and carry, he does have that X-factor around kicking goals and taking great marks for a player of his size. So it's really exciting for him."

The four Giants could be joined by Crows midfielder Sam Kerridge at Carlton, with Rous confident the 22-year-old would get more opportunities at the Blues on a three-year deal, as first reported by AFL.com.au.

Reports suggest Carlton forward Troy Menzel could be involved in a swap for Kerridge.

"Sam has met with Carlton, there is an opportunity there that might unfold in the next couple of days," Rous said.

"Nothing's committed to at this point in time, we've just got to make sure everyone would be happy if that was the way it was going to go down.

"He's been injured for the most part of this year, has only played one game. They've got pretty good depth in their midfield, but he potentially could go to a club like Carlton and play straight away.

"It's that fresh start that he's looking at. Carlton put forward something pretty compelling around the meeting with the coaches and the role that he would play.

"That's something he has to weigh up now."

Rous has already helped seal a move for another Giant this Trade Period, with tough inside midfielder Jacob Townsend and pick 120 going to Richmond in exchange for pick 70.

"It's a very good opportunity for Jacob … they identified him a fair way out," Rous said.

"Probably their best season of late was maybe 2013 when Dan Jackson won their best and fairest. Probably since that time they've maybe lacked a bit of grunt on the inside, that real enforcer-type role.

"Jacob through his 20 games of AFL football is something he's really shown, he's really aggressive, a strong tackler and he'll give Cotchin and the likes a chop out."

HOWEVER...

Once it came to light that Adelaide were interested in Menzel for Kerridge and pick 28 then it was decided that the pick offered would be 28 for the collective AS A PACKAGE!!!

While it ended up needing a last round pick included and next years first pick recieved from Geelong for Henderson the original stance was as I posted yesterday after reading multiple articles, same as multiple other members on this site so either you're reading something different or you simply can't read...

No need for this defensive response or to question my ability to read (have a few degrees, so must be ok).

Clearly I read an inaccurate article, which is what I was pointing out, not questioning your master trade analysis ability.

Sorry sweetheart but normally when one person corrects another, the peron that's doing the correcting is actually correct!!!

Speaking of correcting.
If you persist with this patronising and sexist tone, you'll be erased.

cats, pies and port have killed this trading period.....kudos 2 them......all 3 of them missed out this year.....positive for us is west coast, freo, swans, tigers , doggies and north have not improved significantly... cats and pies have set up their premiership window nicely though.....treloar and dangers are good players to build a side....

Carlisle isn't with Essendon any more. He's with the Saints, a likable club on the way up. I don't understand the glee that he may have been done on the good stuff. Comes across as petty if anything.

You obviously haven't heard that we've signed Jacky 'fantastic' Fitzpatrick.
Maybe re-assess who's the winner of trade time?

Cause we dodged a bullet and it could have been us.

Plus he didn't chose us....

Karma.

It may sound petty but he's not at the Hawks so that's got to be a bonus considering the other stuff going on atm.
