Having twins in your side is always a great marketing technique. Wouldn't be opposed to it - would in fact love to have Jake up here. We'd have no worries about losing Kade then :p

The club drafted Leslie and Lemmens instead. I remember the local media getting around the idea of the Kolodjashnij twins both being drafted to the Gold Coast but the Suns surprised many when they took Sean Lemmens. Jake is out of contract this year so landing his signature probably won't be as hard as it could be.
Might be KKK now.

What role does everyone see Sean Lemmens playing in the team?

Last year he seemed to be a fast, aggressive small defender.
This year...I don't really know, playing some midfield where he doesn't look skilled or big enough.

I've only attended one match in person this year though so it's a bit difficult trying to pick out everyones starting positions on TV.

Think his the back pocket lock down defender..
His very similar to Harbrow except most of Lemmens kicks hit the target..
He is HARD as nails like Seb &
He is pretty match the only guy you could really play on Ballantyne or Eddie betts etc.
i see him pushing Broughton out of the team and maybe after another Pre Season Harbrow too.
His playing out of position atm. Like most Suns players.. Because of lack of numbers.
Tom Lynch at centre half back etc

Well, it's simple. Match the offer or you lose him. His true worth is not 750k but it's now his market worth. You can't blame him for asking the club to give him his market worth.

Yeah your right , cant blame Dicko looking after his future , but his 5 years to date have not demanded that price bracket , so i can see the club maybe auctioning him off to get the best deal we can for him.

If GCS let Dixon go due to the $$$ then it is a big opportunity for Day and or Wright to step up.

Yeah we have some depth in this area . By all reports the best Pre season Sammy has done for the club has been 30% of the work , get him in for a big pre season and we should see the best of him.

Its not his fitness..
Its he doesnt have the footy brain.. Cant find the footy
The bloke runs away from it... So its obvious his fitness is fine

Dont need to be at the club to see his flaws the last 5 years.
The stat sheets at both AFL and NEAFL are nothing to be excited about. Barely causes the stats man any trouble.

Half the games each season you ask yourself.. Is Sam Day playing.. Havent seen him
You check the AFL website at halftime..
Oh wait he is playing his hand 2 handballs in 60mins of footy.

2 bags of 4 last year.. And a stint of about 6 games and ZERO goals.. Whilst playing forward
Finished up with 19goals for the year and ended up in defence.. Where he looked better

Edit- career stats ave 9 touches a game and 0.7 goals in 67 games

To be fair, Day has always been played as the 'third man' decoy. His job never involved making goals. Players were never instructed to kick to him.

So far, we've seen newly found brilliance in nearly every player since Rocket's arrival. Day has been sick for most, if not all, of the preseason, then dislocated his elbow.

We've seen him perform well. We've seen him completely destroy his opponents in the Collingwood game last year when Dicko was out.

If he can perform under Rocket, which I'm positive he will, losing Dixon won't seem like such a big deal. I do love Dicko, but he's worth nowhere near $750k and has shown nothing to suggest his worth is anywhere close to it. Asking for such a sum is selfish, and the club is entirely excused for refusing to match it.

Dixon leaving means that Wright will take his place for less than half the price with more of an upside. Don't get me wrong, Dixon is an incredible player. But he's injury prone and and strings of games have only shown potential and nothing more. Dixon leaving is an unfortunate set back, but hardly devastating. It means we save more than half a million to spend elsewhere, and gain a great deal in return (likely a round one draft pick + a player - as you'd expect for anyone apparently worth $750k).

Say Dixon does leave.. Do we draft a new key forward? Or a medium 190cm forward,. Or just mids?
Play wright? Even though he'll probably won't be ready yet..?
Good question re: Wright.

I think the club will play it safe by playing Wright in the seniors as much as they can this season, just in case Dixon does leave. Built Wright up, give him a specified pre-season for 2016, then bring him in. I know he's only young and no-where near developed, he's shown glimpses of true skill just in the 2 games he's played in the 1s.

McCarthy, Hogan, Boyd, among others, are all examples of a young key forward entering the competition and making an effective impact. Wright may or may not join that list, but if Dixon leaves I don't think we'll have another choice.

We won't draft another key forward, or even a medium forward imo. I think we'll stick to mids, unless the best player by a long short is available with our pick.

If Dicko leaves we have other options. One from slightly left field, providing Rory is fit, is to shift Maysie forward. He's shown he can be a useful forward and can also provide agression. That game against Hawthorn a few years ago was the one that comes to mind where he kicked a few goals and looked at home at FF. Obviously we'd prefer to leave him at fullback, but if Schade, Leslie (or maybe Weitering?) can step up, it does provide us with a Plan B.
One thing is for sure, I'm keen to hang onto Dicko but he is not worth $750k a year, especially not when we have 2MP waiting in the wings.

If Charlie goes to Freo, then does his ankle and he's out for 8 weeks, do we laugh or say 'I told you so'?
That's the worry. I wonder how familiar Brisso and Freo supporters are with his "Dicky ankle". He's lucky to be playing footy at all given the severity of that accident as a kid.

Dixon's dodgy ankle can be traced back to his teenage years, riding his bike in Redlynch.

"I fell off my bike years and years ago and tore all the tendons and never did anything about it," he said.

Nah - no hard feelings from me at least
He's done his best for us
These guys have to be able to ply their trade
It's a different world nowadays
People talk about the expansion clubs being fattening paddocks for the big Clubs, but the salary cap prevents that to a certain extent
Is Charlie really worth the same as Nat Fyfe?

Agree with all. If Dixon's extra high salary demand jeopardizes us holding onto other highly rated players such as Prestia, Lynch, Kolodjashnij, etc in the future then the club must let him go. We do not need to over pay a key fwd $750k with dicky ankles when we have other key fwds to fill the void.

I believe they drafted Peter Wright for this reason. Matured aged Brooksby also being added to the list as a player in the same fwd/ruck role can't be a coincidence. Sam Day is a man mountain & oozes potential. Is this his chance?

If the club does decide to trade Dixon, he will earn us some great compo. Highest bidder wins. It will take a Rd1 pick plus a handy player to secure him with that amount of cash being thrown around.

Freo, Lions, Carlton, Saints - possibly even the Bombers if they lose Carlisle - all looking for a key fwd to bolster their list.

Obviously would love to see him stay as one of our originals, but the club must choose what is best for our future.
