Well i take it as a good sign that he was physically able to "come back out and do some short sprints"....Hopefully just a scare and nothing more.

Yeah, I think you're right, sort of. It's probably more than a 'scare' given little we know, but coming back on to do some sharp runs means it's not a disaster either.

Probably means that it was an ankle or something like that. He would have been strapped up and then told to see how it is. They will then strap and jab for training (maybe) and the game. This time of year there would be a good handful doing that sort of thing. It will be something, but hopefully with jabs and strapping he'll get out there Friday even if less than 100% - there would be a good handful in that position at this time of year unfortunately.

This was on the AFL website:

"Michael Walters suffered a slight hip issue at training on Monday but Lyon said he was fine. Michael Johnson (back), Nat Fyfe (fibula) and Matthew Pavlich have all been managed over the past week but all are ready to face the Hawks."

I still find it strange that walters looked really dejected, the medical staff looked stressed, he looked uncomfortable doing sprints, rtb acknowledged that it was a slight hip yet he said all is ok.
The best thing is that it's a hip. Hip's can be managed with heaps of physio. Just ask pav who has carried a dodgy hip for 2 yrs now.

Ross just mentioned on 6pr walters had his hips squared up i assume via chiropractic adjustment and finished training. Not sure if that lines up with ppl who attended today.

I'd believe our track watchers over Ross fronting the media re: an injury any day. Walters in serious doubt.

No, that's just scaremongering and unnecessary. Stupid comment.

Lyon has been 100% upfront about injuries to McPharlin. He also went into great depths about Johnson, Fyfe, Pavlich and Walters. If he says that Walters had his hips adjusted and is fine, I believe him and so should every Fremantle supporter.

Except in finals where smoke and mirrors can actually throw off the other team and make a difference

So why not say McPharlin is recovering well and is likely to play? I actually think he is being 100% transparent.

No, Ross has only been up front AFTER the club has made an official statement. Don't you remember him saying Jonno's hamstring was a very low grade and he'll miss 1 or 2 weeks? He missed 12 didn't he?
You can't remember him deflecting questions about Fyfe right up until the club came out about the true reason of his injury? Same with Pav and you don't know if he's being truthful about Macca and Walters do you? But by all means follow blindly, experience tells me to treat it with a grain of salt.

Yeah he said that the medicos at the game thought it was low grade. So he was repeating their initial diagosis; being medically trained staff and all that. Scans later proved that wrong, as is often the case.

Unless you have definitive proof to the contrary, stop scaring the good people on this forum.

Nah no proof but I don't trust Lyon re injuries, he always down plays them down. It's all good though because Salim has just reported in another thread that Walters returned to finish training. I was going off the reports from Other training watchers.

Dont know much about hips... play through the pain?

Depends on so many things. Saying it's the hips is pretty vague. If it's the actual hip joint (e.g. small tears and cartilage damage can occur there), then it can be a real pain, but can respond really well to anti-inflammatory in the short term (of course that stuffs up other things including possibly the joint in the long run). If it's the sacroiliac joint then again, can respond well to anti-inflammatory and good physio and manipulation. There's a bunch of hip flexor muscles that can be very painful if there's a bit of strain, often you can do some things really well, but certain actions (e.g. kicking) can hurt a lot and cause more damage.

So in short, hard to say. If it's responding to manipulation as Ross indicates, then it's likely to be the sacroiliac and, in that case, yeah, sort of thing that can be played through you'd think. Just guess work of course though.
