There are so many players who deserve a chance over the guys that actually got it but because they don't have an X factor or an exciting ability they missed out, really disappointed to see the guys who are really solid all-round players miss out
what is this X factor I thought State 18s was to showcase your best 18 year olds, you might be able to jump, show athletic ability, and maybe a few tricks but can u play football, be a great team player and work your guts out for a common goal. That's what makes a great footballer. This year Sate Academy is only worried about their image and are basically kicking this years 18 year olds to the kerb.

I think the 18's are about showcasing players that have potential to make it at AFL level. Sometimes it is worth selection a player with AFL attributes even if there is a player that is more solid option.

OK I agree but some really good 18 year olds have missed out because younger 17 year olds have taken their place. Who decides that these selected players have AFL potential. I just feel that because this years 18 year old haven't got the same number of talented players as previous years that they've decided to work on players for next year instead. The Academy got a big shake up last year as they had most talented list but could only win one game but changes made this year have been detrimental to current 18 year olds.

heard this year 18s are going to be A DEVELOPMENT YEAR is this a joke

If that was the case there are a few more 1998 guys that would be deserving of a call up. I don't really have too much of an issue with the State Academy putting AFL applicable talent first. Which emphasis on size, pace and skill differentials. The issues come about when they get it wrong.

Not surprised for instance that East Perth put West Perth to the sword when you take out the three standouts from their Colts side. Once exposed many of those so called unlucky players struggle.

Chapman Jones for instance is a Perth FC special. Another over age bully.

Watched EP Vs WP last week was a good game EP have also lost some players but still seemed to put it together although they had della franca back from injury who scored two goals. Surprised he is not in state this year.

Would have to disagree with EP vs WP game, from watching both sides previously - think it just came down to EP wanting it more then there opponents.

Also with Chapman, still think he would atleast deserve a spot in the squad given his form. Similar to Mitchell Antonio who missed out on a spot, but is leading goal kicker in the competition and has real X-factor about him.

Yes EP wanted it more but I think Della Franca might have given them a bit more height and he does have ability in ruck and forward. The team just seemed to gel better than in previous weeks.

Who's WA top ten draft prospects this year? It looks like daylight after Ah Chee. I'm sure that's just early season ignorance though. Clark, Della Franca, Stewart, Snadden really the only other names I can think of.

Is Eades lining up for them at the carnival too or Vic? Guess he counts

I agree not much happening so far State 18s is a mystery selections are random and not based on best 18 year olds. See what happens this weekend.

What happened to 18s last weekend got smashed. Could this be a repeat of last year with only one win.
If this happens could this mean WA drops down to Division Two next year.

They will not drop down a division.
NSW have the best midfield of all states so it is interesting that they dont get to play against the division 1 sides.

WA haven't played Vic Metro yet.

WA came second in the 2014 16s carnival. So next years U18 group, there is also some decent 16 year olds to support them.

ROYAL, what are your thoughts on Shaw, I personally thought he looked like he had plenty of potential.
Quick, takes the game on and seems to have a solid kick. At times his defensive work is a little off but he seems to get caught out being aggressive, so I don't mind those mistakes.

One on one is poor needs work, needs to get stronger pushed of the ball easily at times.
Offensive side of the game is very good, needs to work on his timing though.

No but WA just got beaten by SA by 73 points
Don't like there chances against Vic metro
Maybe they should have had more 18 year olds that maybe don't have the so called X factor but at least can play football,
watched replay of SA WA game what a joke. Totally out of their league.
