Round 1 is going to be very interesting. Essendon allowed to use 10 top up players, i bet they will sign former Suns duds and they come out and are really good round 1.

Lock, Gilbee, Horsley, Patrick, Herbert, Warnock, Tom Murphy, Iles, Sumner, Piers Flanagan, Nathan Ablett and Mav Weller (he's not available but he is a former Suns dud ;))

Gaz, Prestia, Swallow and hopefully Jaeger and going to love the look at the opposition midfield! Would Essendon sign Ryan Crowley just to stop Gaz lol.
Goddard, Zaharakis and a first gamer in Parish...cupboard looks bare after that. They've lost half their best 22, with all those players suspended in their 25-31 year age bracket. If we don't win this in a canter it will be unforgivable.

If we don't win this by at least 10 goals I want all the GC players TAB accounts audited

We beat this mob at home without Gaz, Swallow, Jaeger and Prestia when they still had Heppell, Hurley, Carlisle and Hooker.

Insert our gun mids and take out those players and we should win by more.

I am slightly wary of the calibre of player they can recruit. They could go all experience and go with recent retirees such as Lake, Chapman, Kelly, Stokes, etc. That will leave them reasonably competitive.

But we should still win.

Let's not get too cocky about feeding on Essendon's carcass. Their club made a big mistake & now they're paying for it. I'm glad it was them, not us, but it could just as easily have been us. We've had a few people on the payroll, who have made some fairly major mistakes too. In fact, we even had a couple of those same blokes that Essendon are blaming.

Essendon fans will be hurting at the moment. They don't need everyone else to rub salt into their wounds.

I hope we start the season with a big win, but our players will still need to turn up & have a real go. If they think the win will just happen, they'll get rolled.

I'm thinking the same thing. If they're only recruiting for one year, where's the harm in convincing older players to come back for one last season? Though I'm not sure how many, if any, would actually want to return just to top up a doping club's list, but it's definitely something to be somewhat concerned about.

But still, with or without the suspended Essendon players we should win the game! :p

Even if they bring back some older heads , those guys have been in the paddock for 3-4 months , fattening up Stewie Dew style. We should win but wont be a cakewalk.

Just heard Aker on foxsports news say that a silver lining for Essendon is that getting the top up players will give them an opportunity to unearth a few guns that will help them next year. I would have thought that in 2017 when the suspended players come back to the club that even if a top up player plays 22 games that they will need to enter the draft to get to an AFL club in 2017 (e.g. Mitch Brown last year).

Would of thought so.
There ****ed if they do.. And if they don't really
If they pick up James jelly Matt stokes Crowley etc.

Yeah the team might be reasonable..
But there's no chance of growth..
Finding a golden nugget like a Mackenzie Willis or Tom Keough Anthony Miles Michael Barlow etc
Seeing what they can do first hand then picking them up in the draft ASAP

I just watched the Peter Wright interview and he seems like a good bloke. While he is still probably 1-3 years away from locking down a spot this kid is going to be a jet.

Would be good to lock him into a 3 or 4 year contract sometime soon too. Though I imagine his manager will want to wait until at least half way through the season to up his worth.

Your right if he doesn't play much senior footy this year he might look elsewhere and a club like Freo Hawthorn or any other club would be stupid not to offer him a 500k a season for a 202cm power forward who is deadly accurate from 60m out and runs a 15? Beep
Sign him up quick smart.

hmm i've heard he's only a 201cm low power forward who is inconsistently accurate from 40m out and runs a 11 beep.

don't talk him up too much, opposition supporters read this stuff and get ideas. :p

Doping on a club level and trying to hide it isn't really a "mistake". They cheated.
