From what I've read the majority consensus seems to be getting both boys (especially Daicos) is a non-negotiable.
I think we may be talking about different concensus groups here. I'm referring to people who know what they're talking about, scout reports, serious draft watchers etc, not people posting on Big Footy blinded by the romance of having the sons of Daicos and Brown back in black and white.
If Hine sees them as just another kid in the draft and forgets their last names there's probably a fairly small chance we get them, especially Brown being small and lacking foot skills not really being what we appear to be looking for lately.
Anything past the second round for bids and the amount of points required to get them is minimal. If there are still several significantly better options available before our next pick, then maybe they'll be overlooked, but you need to remember that the new system works a lot differently now, in that it takes a lot of guesswork out of the equation when it comes to matching bids. If the new system had been set up in 2012 there's every chance that Stewart would be a Collingwood player now instead of Ramsay, given that Hine would have a clear idea of which players would have been available between 27 and 38 and the likelihood of any desirable players being available at our pick.
Personally with our 1st pick I think we should be targeting a KPP... hope a McGovern or Carlisle slips through to the 20's.. our KPP stocks are fairly weak.
At this point neither Daicos or Brown look like being early picks, so it shouldn't be a massive issue in regards to our first.
Daicos has had a few decent games but most people are rating him based on a supposed massive development potential based on his last name. Well at least draft day will be interesting even with no 1st round pick
The massive development potential isn't because of his name, it's based on the fact that despite having no real exposure to elite systems before this year (Daicos academy on school holidays aside), he's performing reasonably well at both TAC and State level. If you can walk in to programs of those levels and hold your own despite only playing school footy previously, it makes sense that you'd be regarded as someone with a potentially high development ceiling.

When it comes to youngsters trying to get drafted, playing school footy and TAC cup.... I proudly claim to be in the second camp and do not apologise for any romanticism!!!
